Located near the Mylor Oval, Sherry Park boasts an exciting interactive playground with slides, climbing sections and swings, a ninja obstacle course, and a bike track!
We particularly love the stopwatch ninja course with it’s very own slanted steps, rope climb and even a mini sized warped wall! There’s loads of energy to be burnt off here!
It’s located right near Mylor Oval with plenty of parking available, as well as the Sherry Park BMX/Bike Track so pack the bikes and balls when you visit. You can also grab a coffee and treats from the Mylor General Store which is nearby.
There are no toilets sadly at the playground itself, but public toilets are located on the other side of the oval. A bit of a walk but they are close enough to be handy. Plenty of parking too in the car park at the playground, which was very handy for us and our speedy toddler. We did love the bike track being so close too, which makes it really convenient to unload the bikes from the car and play at both the playground and bike track.
There is a lot of natural shade from the gorgeous bushland, but there is also a small seated shelter area to sit with your coffee and watch the kids try to beat their personal best on the course!
Find it at: Protea Cres, Crafers One of our favourite little Adelaide Hills playgrounds has had an upgrade! The Protea Reserve Playground is hidden away at the end of Lesley Crescent in Crafers. It's by no means the biggest park in Adelaide BUT it's in such a gorgeous quiet location that it's well worth a visit. ESPECIALLY in Autumn to see all the gorgeous trees in all their different colours. New equipment includes a new slide and swings, multi play unit with custom treehouse, balance trail, monkey bars, climbing net, rockers and an accessible spinner. There is a picnic table and also lots grassy spots to throw down a picnic rug. This spot was MADE for a picnic! There's still no toilets though, so keep that in mind. The playground doesn't have shade sail but there are plenty of tall shady trees around and you might even be lucky enough to spot a koala! If you need to, stop in at Stirling on the way and grab yourself a coffee and some bakery treats.LOVE this little park!
Find it at: Mount Barker Rd, Bridgewater This stunning playground is just about everything we love about a day out in our beautiful Adelaide Hills. Coffee, stunning scenery and a fab playground for all ages. Located just below the Bridgewater Mill, the playground is fenced along the road and edges but NOT on the creek bed, which in my opinion is great because it allows kids to take there shoes off and go for a good explore in the creek bed. When we were there it was only about ankle deep with some deeper sections under the bridge, so you'll need to use your discretion based on your kids abilities and what's happening in the creek the day you visit. During winter and after a big rain, the creek can get quite deep and fast, so it will change during the year. We had a great time crossing the stone path, splashing in the water and saying hello to the resident ducks who were cooling off on this 34 degree day! The playground itself is not shaded, but there are lots of little nooks and crannies to sit under the shade of either the trees that surround the park or…
Find it at: Mount Barker Road, Stirling Nestled away in the beautiful Adelaide Hills suburb of Stirling, one of the first things you see upon exiting the freeway is the Stirling Steamroller Park. The park is fully fenced and is split into two areas, one for smaller children with baby swings, a mini slide, cubby house, balancing beams and rockers. There is also a great big tree perfect for climbing in, and exploring The other more suited to the bigger kids with an elevated boardwalk connecting 2 cubbies with a slide at one end. There are also swings, slides, a climbing wall and of course the feature of the park, the Steam Roller. Outside of the playground area is a larger grassy area where you will find a free bbq and beautiful rotunda to sit under. Stirling is a gorgeous little town (yes ok, we all went to school here so we MAY be slightly biased), only 20 or so minutes from the city, and the main street has some fantastic boutique shopping and coffee shops. Coffee tip. Take a drive just up the main road from the playground and drop into Stirling Cellars & Patisserie for a great coffee…
