Find it at: Norman Road, Aldinga Beach

Ah Silver Sands. God’s country this is. One of the best spots along our coast for beautiful beaches, incredible views and serenity. Also not far from the Victory Hotel which is a fab spot for lunch. But did you know apart from all the natural wonder there is also a great little kids playground, located right on the beach front opposite the Aldinga Bay SLSC.

With a nautical theme (naturally), this one is best suited to the under 10s with a few swings and some small boat-themed climbing equipment with a slide. It is a great spot for a BBQ with shaded facilities to cook and eat, plus toilets too. There is no shade over the playground and it isn’t fenced to any great degree from the nearby car park

What a fabulous way to let the kids play after a day at one of Adelaide’s best beaches!

  • Find it at: Rodgers Terrace, Maitland On the corner of Rogers Terrace and Robert St in Maitland there is a great combination playground. It boasts both the typical metal/plastic style playground with a large wooden climbing section. There is a spinning ride (although beware after rain as it fills with water), swings, a big slide, a digger and climbing equipment. It is surrounded by fence for most of the playground with just a small gap for entering (not secure). It has a car park, shaded seating, a free bbq, a double cricket pitch and it's just a short walk to nearby toilets.Fun for the whole family!

  • Find it at: Stansbury Rd, Yorketown Yorketown Playground is absolutely massive and there is something for everyone. When you arrive you'll notice there's plenty of parking, there's an information booth for the area and some unique art around the place. Once you've parked you'll see a large playground area, a toilet block, a bbq with a shaded seating area and a short walk away, a big lake. We decided to check out the lake first and on our walk down there, discovered nature play spaces for climbing and exploring as well as many little creatures for children to take delight in. The lake is beautiful and there are walking paths you can take. Once back at the playground you will discover a Loch Ness Monster, flower photo booth, challenging play equipment for all ages and a stunning artwork of 2 rosellas. We stayed and played for well over an hour as it's perfect for kids and big kids (if you get my drift ;-))

  • Find it at: Pederick Road, Lewiston It's a beautiful playground in such a quiet area. There is little traffic passing by and its enclosed. The playground is in good repair, clean and lots of fun for a range of ages. There is a bbq area with plenty of undercover seating, rubbish bins and a public toilet. The carpark is off the road and has plenty of space and there's even a wetlands walking track. Whilst there we noticed that previous families had taken chalk and done drawing on the brick pathways so that's another idea for keeping the children entertained. There is also a grassy area for ball play. It's definitely somewhere I'll be taking my family for a picnic in the future.
