  • Want to treat the family to a meal but worried whether the kids will sit still long enough to enjoy a beer? Tired of the old nuggets and chips kids menu? Looking for a laid-back atmosphere with affordable meal options? If you said ‘yes’ to one or more of these questions, then keep reading. The Settlers Tavern offers families a casual dining experience in the North-East suburbs of Adelaide. Much loved by locals, the huge bistro area serves both lunch and dinner, and by the number of parents with young children that poured through those doors on the night we visited, it's evident that it's a popular choice for families. The feature most youngsters are drawn to first, the indoor playground. Complete with a tunnel slide, naughts and crosses, and little hiding nooks, I guarantee this is where they'll want to play. It's tucked away at the back end of the room and I'd recommend booking a table close by if dining with kids. Next to the playground, you'll find everyone's favourite, the chocolate machine, so bring some coins along too. Recently the Settlers devised a new kids menu and let me just say, they've hit the nail on the…

  • Find it at: Asgard Drive, Golden Grove Golden Fields Reserve has had an incredible upgrade with the addition of an adventure playground, which joins the existing reserve playground in this 12 hectare reserve (the adventure playground is on the lower level)! This has got to be one of the biggest playground reserves in Adelaide with HEAPS of different play areas, including an accessible area and a brand new section with the coolest slide around! (And around and around and around, if you get our drift!) Highlighted by a massive tower which has to be seen to be believed, this is definitely going to become THE new destination playground out north. Kids can climb up a tower on one side and crawl through the tunnel to the other side then go whizzing down the twisty slide. It seriously feels like you are in there forever! Here is what you will find on offer… ☑️ Three massive slides ☑️ Climbing wall☑️ Trampolines☑️ Flying fox☑️ The biggest swings we've ever seen Off Asgard Drive, Golden Grove. Parking available and toilets on both sides of the reserve. This is definitely a fantastic playground for climbers with plenty of climbing frames, ladders and nets on…

  • These Golden Rough's only need 3 ingredients and don't take long to make at all. Enjoy this delish recipe from The Colourful Housewife. Ingredients: 1 block of Cadbury cooking chocolate 2 teaspoons of coconut oil 1/2 Cup of coconut (add more if you like a lot of coconut) What to do: Put the chocolate and coconut oil in a microwave bowl and place in the microwave on high for 1 minute When it's melted, stir through until it's a runny consistency Add the coconut and stir through Next, pour the mixture into molds or, if you want them thin like golden roughs, use cookie cutters and pour enough in just to cover the bottom of mold Place in the fridge for 4 hours Once firm, push down hard on the cookie cutters to cut off any leakage, and pop out the chocolates, then do the same with the molds Next, consume them before the kids get home! Ha! For more great recipes head to The Colourful Housewife website
