The Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market (ASFM) is one of South Australia’s best spots for fresh, local food, and it’s got something for everyone!
Every Sunday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, families head down to the Adelaide Showground for a fun, relaxed shopping experience that supports local farmers and producers. With over 100 stallholders each week, you’ll find everything from fresh fruit and veggies to delicious homemade treats, ethically raised meats, and even sweet treats like jams and pastries. It’s the perfect spot to stock up on the good stuff, knowing it’s all grown or made right here in SA.
What makes ASFM so special? It’s a true farmers’ market, no wholesalers or middlemen involved. You’re buying direct from the people who grow, raise, or make the food! Whether you’re after fresh apples, free-range eggs, handmade pasta, or fresh flowers, you’ll meet the farmers and makers who are behind it all. Plus, by shopping local, you’re helping to keep small farms and family-run businesses thriving in our community.
But ASFM isn’t just about food – it’s also a fantastic place for kids and families to have fun together! Every month, they offer a program of activities that are either free, by donation, or available for a small charge. These activities happen every Sunday morning from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, giving kids a chance to get creative while you shop for the best local produce. Activities are held in different locations around the market, with most happening in the Market Pavilion (Eastern end). It’s the perfect chance for little ones to make something special and let their parents join in.
Everything at ASFM is all about sustainability, so you can feel good knowing that the food you’re buying is fresh, seasonal, and produced with care for the environment. Entry is free, and there’s plenty of paid on-site parking or free street parking nearby, making it super easy to pop by for a family outing.

Whilst this playground is compacted into a small area it has some great play equipment for the kids and it is attached to an oval so lots of space to kick the footy, dance around or just run and be free. The fully fenced play ground features a swing set with baby swing, a sea saw, a mini merry go round and some bouncy animals for the toddlers. For the primary school age kids there are 2 suitable play pieces . An awesome climbing wall shaped like a pirate ship, great for not only climbing but also imaginative play. The main bigger piece of equipment features a few climbing pieces including a fireman pole and a rope net along with 3 slippery dips including a double one. Underneath the kids will find a little shop area with a counter that also allows imaginative play. The reserve also has a tennis court you can use and does have toilets. As the reserve is used for a local sports group the toilets were in the club rooms so when we were there the toilets were not open so I wouldn't rely on them. Find it at: Montrose St, Ferryden Park Located on Montrose St at Ferryden Park, this little spot has just had $155, 000 spent on an upgrade which is now open! There is new play equipment including a rubber softfall mat, slide, bouncy buggy, trampolines and double swings. They have also installed two new park seats and a new drinking fountain!
