Work has begun on the new skate park – the latest piece of a long term vision to redevelop Aldinga Sports Park.

The new skate park was designed by CONVIC – a world leader in skate park and youth space design and construction – and it’ll be built south of the Aldinga football oval, just west of Main South Road.

The skate park has been made possible through a $1.3 million state government grant with the support of Leon Bignell, Member for Mawson.

The City of Onkaparinga undertook community engagement on the project in December 2023, and then again in March-April 2024 once a draft concept plan had been created.

The project includes:

  • skate bowl and street skating that is capable of hosting events and competitions
  • lighting
  • irrigated turf for seating and viewing
  • a shelter with benches
  • footpaths and car park

Construction is expected to be completed around March 2025.

Thanks to City of Onkaparinga for the images.
