The super popular reserve and oval benefited from a 2022 upgrade to the playground which now includes swings, a couple of slides and a small amount of equipment to suit the under 10s. The reserve also includes a BBQ and toilets, as well as outdoor fitness equipment, 3 on 3 basketball court, tennis courts and a netball ring. The reserve is home to a number of sporting clubs from a variety of sports, and is also used by local primary schools.
This is a really popular spot for local families who take advantage of the beautiful oval and sports facilities for ball sports, a bit of fitness or just to bring the dog for a run around.
It also includes a book nook station which operates on an honour system, located at the southern end of the oval next to the car park. Grab a book, take a seat and enjoy the scenery.
A thriving Community Garden operates out of the reserve as well. Check out their site here for all the info on membership, upcoming events and more. Best access for the garden is from the southern car park as well.
This is a newly renovated (July 2018) park for all ages. 4 swings (2 little kids and 2 older kids), balancing, climbing nets and climbing wall, monkey bars, firemans pole and flying fox. There's also exercise equipment for big kids and adults. Nature play elements including hard and loose surface paths and a water play area including a water gate, water pumps, channel, sand sieve and wooden bridge that will be great fun in summer! There's also lots of shade including 2 shade sails which we love as well as BBQs and undercover picnic area, basketball area and netball goal too. A great park for a birthday party! This is an off-leash park where dogs can exercise off-leash, except within 5 metres of a playground, at a wetland or when organised sport is being played. Note: There are no toilets at this park but it's just a short walk (10 mins or so) to Hendrie Street Reserve [wpgmza id="138" cat="1" marker="480" zoom="16"]
This local playground /park is suitable for a mixture of age groups however the play equipment only caters for toddlers. The equipment features a small swing set including baby swing, 2 small slippery dips , a swinging hammock , climbing area and a couple of small play equipment. Half the area is covered by shade .What is great about this park/reserve is that the play equipment area is fenced off, has a good size grassed area and a half key basketball court. Within this area you also have the use of toilets and BBQ facilities. What I also like about this park is that outside the fenced playground area you also have the use of tennis courts and for the pooch lovers there is a huge dog park /sports field. It even has off street parking. Why not bring the family, put a sausage on the BBQ, have a hit of tennis or try for a slam dunk on the basketball key whilst you also get to keep the pooch happy at the dog park. In need of a coffee on the way you either have OTR service station on the corner of Diagonal and Oaklands Road ( probably not…
As soon as you approach this playground you really notice the brightly coloured modern play equipment. A local playground tucked away in the streets of Clovelly Park. This playground mostly caters for 4 years and above but there are a few pieces the toddlers could use. Set amongst a fabulous grassed area that can also be utilised this playground features a slippery dip, swing set including a baby swing, some fabulous pieces of climbing equipment including a mini rock wall and the awesome blue fireman pole to slide down. My favourite features would be the purple roundabout swing where if you go fast enough you get off with the wobbles ( a kids favourite) along with the tyre look alike climbing wall. With this piece of equipment you can either climb up, over or through and with its array of colour to me it is the attraction of the park. The playground has a few seats that can be utilised but does not have any shade , no toilets and no BBQ facilities. A great little spot if you live in the area. The 2024 improvements at Glenelg Oval not only include a playground, but also with new soccer goals, a basketball court and exercise equipment. The playground forms part of a larger development to the area which includes enhanced spectator viewing to the main oval and new public toilets. A great spot to watch the footy and allow the younger kids to have a play? How good is that! The Margaret Messenger Reserve updates see adult fitness equipment, an upgraded 3x3 basketball court, grassed area and BBQ with shelter and seating all adding great value to a very popular Glenelg hotspot.
