Find it at: Cormorant Drive Hallett Cove

A new playground and reserve has opened at Cormorant Drive down at Hallett Cove and it is very cool (especially for dino lovers)

This reserve has an interesting history with a Diprotodon (Giant Wombat) fossil remains found here in 1992. This Australian megafauna was the world’s largest marsupial and lived between 15,000-10,000 years ago.

A playground includes:

  • Diprotodon sculpture climb
  • Diprotodon sandpit
  • Hill slide
  • Swings
  • Megafauna interactive search and find game
  • Nature play rocks and logs
  • Extension of existing rubble path
  • New picnic table and bench seat
  • Drinking fountain

  • Find it at: Central Avenue, Hallett Cove A fabulous new addition to the City of Marion's range of playspaces opened up in March 2021, with the brand spanking new playground at Central Avenue Reserve. Using the site's slope to the fullest advantage, the highlight here is a super quick flying fox which takes kids (and parents!) from the rock-climb inspired slide playground and basketball court, right down to the sand play and shelter area at the bottom. The climbing playground is a really unique set up here too, with a variety of climbing challenges for the older kids (but it isn't too high to rule out the younger ninja's either. Make it to the top and the kids will travel to the bottom in a nice little tube slide. Great stuff! There is plenty of lawn surrounded by trees and you will find balance beams and wooden log steppers throughout he reserve too, as well as a swing set including baby swing. Chuck in some shaded areas and a brand new BBQ and this is a fantastic facility for the locals. No toilets at this one sadly.

  • Find it at: Glade Crescent, Hallett Cove This playspace is located just off Quailo Avenue at Glade Crescent Reserve, Hallett Cove is a wonderful space for varying ages. We visited on the weekend with our 2-year-old and she loved it! The park is divided into two sections, one for juniors and one for seniors so there's something for all ages here. The junior side has 3 slides of different heights and widths. There's a train to play in and a few different types of toddler swings. The slides are shaded so no burnt bums going down! The senior playground has a great flying fox that is the highlight and also has lots of nature based items to balance and climb on. There's a big sandpit and even a really fun bike/scooter path, so pack your wheels! There's lots of space and shade here. Plenty of seating, tables, water fountains and a couple of BBQs. A great spot for a birthday party. A toilet is located on the Quailo Avenue side of the reserve. • Situated on Linear Park amongst the walking track this playground has a lovely local vibe and is an awesome spot for the kids to explore and play. The play area includes equipment and nature play and has a nice balance of the two blended together. It includes water and sand play along with a small flowing creek with rocks and logs which allows the kids to get in to nature play. There's also lots of natural shade. The playground also includes swings ( which includes a baby swing ) a mound slippery dip with 2 slides, a climbing frame with ropes and ladders, a rope swing bridge and a bouncy fish shape animal piece for the little ones. Along side of the play area you will also find a half basketball court for the older kids to shoot some hoops and a nice walking or bike track for the family. This playground features a sheltered picnic table but has no toilets unfortunately. Whilst this is a local play area I would recommend this spot for a Sunday family drive and play and suggest packing the scooters, skateboards or bikes so you can enjoy the linear path as well. image credit…
