Find it at: Leicester St, Parkside

As of May 2025 this little fully fenced playground in Parkside features a great little toddler sized playground complete with train as well as a set of swings and plenty of open grass area for a run around or picnic.

New Playground coming 2026

The play space is scheduled for an upgrade as part of Unley Council’s program to revitalise our community open spaces.

The proposed upgrade includes improved access into the park with new park signage, upgraded entry points from both Leicester Street and the Glen Osmond Creek Linear Trail and a new path connecting both entries, improving accessibility across the park. The playground will include new play equipment designed to suit a range of age groups and abilities, while a proposed garden maze will further enhance nature-based play experiences, offering opportunities for sensory exploration.

The concept also includes extended garden bed plantings around the perimeter of the site to boost biodiversity and frame the space, new seating and picnic settings positioned to make use of shade trees, and more diverse opportunities for play with the installation of a table tennis table and mini soccer goals in the open lawn area. The existing shade sail will be retained and renewed, while the park remains a fully fenced recreation space where dogs must remain on leash at all times due to the shared use of space with the playground.

In addition to the 2 separate play areas this play space has awesome Mini Ninja course designed for ages 10 - 14. We love how the council have created this space with a natural flare in mind so the kids balance and climb on logs and stumps, run up and over mounds, and use rocks as stepping stones. The ninja course is actually designed to get people following a course of obstacles to run, jump, crawl or move any other way possible through the challenges to the Finish line. It's a great challenge and certainly something that will keep the older kids enjoying for quite a while. You'll also find monkey bars, rope climbing nets, a wooden climbing wall and lots more. The mini Ninjas will love it (and so will many bigger ninjas!) In addition to the Mini Ninja course the The City of Unley has secured a $264,000 Smart Cities and Suburbs Grant from the Federal Government to integrate smart technology at the park. This will improve safety and usability of the popular park . With a HUGE…

  • Find it at: Trimmy Terrace, Unley The City of Unley consulted with the "playground experts" to help them upgrade the Unley Oval playground. During community consultation with local residents, the City of Unley specifically sought suggestions from children in the area about what they would like to see incorporated into the improved playground, atop the northern mound at Unley Oval, known as the ‘Hilltop Playground’. 93 children from local schools and kindergartens offered their suggestions with most popular ideas including an aeroplane, haunted house, castle, pirate ship, nature play and incorporating animal designs such as elephants, spiders, cats and unicorns. (YES! playgrounds DEFINITELY need more unicorns we say!) The kids love the new multi-story structure with giant 3m tube slide, a toddler slide, climbing wall and a bird's eye view across the whole oval. There is also a great 'balanced swing/see-saw' that both kids and adults can enjoy at the same time.
