Find it at: Franklin Parade, Victor Harbor

What a hidden little gem this is! I’m sure regulars to Victor Harbor will tell us they’ve been visiting this park for ages but it’s a new one for us!

Kent Reserve is found on Franklin Parade, on the foreshore half way between Encounter Bay and Victor Harbor town. It’s a beautiful big green, shady and fairly quiet spot away from the busier playgrounds in Victor.

There is PLENTY of room for picnics with lots of tables and seats and BBQ facilities. The kids can kick a ball and run around and there are lots of beautiful big shady trees (the playground itself isn’t shaded, but there are plenty of spots to escape the sun on a hot day)
There are toilets too!

There is also a small basketball court and a seperate section with adult gym equipment.

There’s nothing wow factor about the playground equipment but definitely enough there to keep kids busy. There’s swings, monkey bars, climbing nets, rockers, a slide and a cool spinning frame that was the favourite BUT BE WARNED it’s bark chips!! Gah! Shoes are needed, unless your kids have concrete feet.

Here’s a tip……pop up the road to Yilki Store at Encounter Bay and grab yourself a bacon and egg roll and a coffee before you visit. Oh and also pack your bathers because the beach is right over the road and perfect for a cool down on a hot day!

  • Find it at: Kooralla Grove, Kidman Park What a great little park this one is. With a fantastic range of play equipment, including some reasonably challenging climbing equipment to a playground with an enclosed twirly slide, this has something for most ages. It even has a heap of outdoor gym equipment but lets be honest, apart from sitting on the ski swingy one, nobody has ever used any of it....or is that just us? No toilets is the only let down here, but it has a BBQ, seating, a mix of toddler and traditional swings, several slides and is a really beautiful spot. There is no fencing but the river is about 100m away and it is in a nice quiet back street so you shouldn't have many issues.
