This is one of my favourite parks. A beautiful park/playground perfect for the kids to have a play on the playground, enjoy a run on the grass or explore the beautiful manicured gardens.

Partridge House is a beautiful old community home built in 1899 and is now used for private functions with the grounds open each day until 10pm to the public.

The playground caters for a few ages and has a swing set including baby swing, 2 slippery dips, climbing pieces and a few smaller fun pieces for toddlers.

Perfect spot for a family picnic with tables, toilets and BBQ facilities available. Whilst this park does not have shade clothes there is plenty of beautiful shady areas around the park but unfortunately not covering all the play equipment. The park is fenced off however the front gate is open for access to Partridge House Function rooms.

My suggestion if you have small children would be to park in the back street (Penzance St) which is where the playground is situated, and stay down the back end of the park.

This a popular area on weekends for weddings or private functions so just a little note to let you know that the Elk Tree area which is located towards the front of the grounds is off limits during private functions . Plenty of space so this isn’t an issue.

Such a calming and beautiful area that I highly recommend for a lovely family picnic with a gorgeous setting . They allow dogs but just be mindful if there is a private function on.

If in need of a coffee or food there are many restaurants/ coffee shops along Jetty Road appox 5 min walk away that provide take away food and drinks

Location – 38 Partridge St Glenelg with good access and parking from Penzance St

  • Find it at: 10 Sheoak Ave Novar Gardens This local little playground is nestled in the quiet streets of Novar Gardens and sits right next to historic Cummins House. Cummins House was built in 1842 for Sir John Morphett and his wife Elizabeth and were one of Adelaide’s founding families. Once a working farmland for orchards, vines and olives the property also farmed sheep and had a well known horse stud. Today the house and grounds welcome visitors to come along and see how the lives of one of Adelaide’s known families lived. The beautiful gardens are very popular for functions and weddings. The playground is suited for toddlers and has a lovely jungle animal theme. From frogs on the end of the see saw, to turtles and monkeys placed near the 2 slippery dips all adding to the jungle atmosphere . The playground has a couple of bouncing animals, swing set including a baby seat and has a couple of little climbing walls and ropes. Unfortunately this playground has no fence , shade( it is surrounded by large trees )  or toilets so I would suggest a look around Cummins House during visitor hours followed by a short play…

  • Find it at: Rodgers Terrace, Maitland On the corner of Rogers Terrace and Robert St in Maitland there is a great combination playground. It boasts both the typical metal/plastic style playground with a large wooden climbing section. There is a spinning ride (although beware after rain as it fills with water), swings, a big slide, a digger and climbing equipment. It is surrounded by fence for most of the playground with just a small gap for entering (not secure). It has a car park, shaded seating, a free bbq, a double cricket pitch and it's just a short walk to nearby toilets.Fun for the whole family!

  • Find it at: Stansbury Rd, Yorketown Yorketown Playground is absolutely massive and there is something for everyone. When you arrive you'll notice there's plenty of parking, there's an information booth for the area and some unique art around the place. Once you've parked you'll see a large playground area, a toilet block, a bbq with a shaded seating area and a short walk away, a big lake. We decided to check out the lake first and on our walk down there, discovered nature play spaces for climbing and exploring as well as many little creatures for children to take delight in. The lake is beautiful and there are walking paths you can take. Once back at the playground you will discover a Loch Ness Monster, flower photo booth, challenging play equipment for all ages and a stunning artwork of 2 rosellas. We stayed and played for well over an hour as it's perfect for kids and big kids (if you get my drift ;-))
