Find it at: Just off Churchill Road, Kilburn

At a cost of $150 grand, the Peter McKay Reserve (Just off Churchill Road….about a stones throw from Costco) upgrade is open and ready to go.

With new equipment including a double slide, climbing frame, trampoline and carousel, plus rubber matting all around, it looks a cool little park. Council have also mentioned planning for shade which would be a great addition!

  • Find it at: Tiranna Way, West Lakes. Talk about location, location, location! We often forget we have an incredible lake over at West Lakes which provides some of the most beautiful scenery in town. This is a spectacular spot which if you visit on a nice day like we did, will make you feel like you are on holiday at some sort of fancy resort. There were a lot of things we loved about this one. The view of course. Obviously! But we loved the sandy beach and the little diggers (lovely surprise they were!), the shade sails were fantastic, the grassed area is great for a picnic or a lay down on a towel plus there is a bike track around the lake to top off the visit! Perfect. A few things to note though, it isn't fenced. A big issue with the nearby water so take note of that. Coffee (very important detail) is highly recommended from 'Old Habits' at the end of the road. There are toilets thankfully but no BBQ areas, which is a bit odd as it is THE perfect BBQ spot. Bring a rug too as there is hardly any seating. The playground is…

  • Find it at: Military Road, Tenyson Oarsman Reserve West Lakes is located on the lakeshore on Military Road, West Lakes Located on the Lake ( so comes with quite a nice view ) this park is great for a broader range of ages. Arriving at the playground you instantly get splashed with an array of colour and excitement looking at this play equipment and what it has to offer the kids. From lots of climbing pieces, 3 colourful slides, a mini merry go round, a swing set including nest swing, a BIG orange car and lots of grassed area to run around on, this playground is a winner with the big and small kids The climbing cube seems to be a hit with the older kids as it has high and low ropes with a mini rock climbing wall on the ends. The little ones loved the orange car , the slides ,the merry go round and the little touch elements scattered around the equipment. This playground has car parking, BBQs with shelter and toilets but Unfortunately this playground doesn't have shade or is NOT fenced in. You need to mindful it has a main road on one side of…

  • Find it at: Brooklyn Drive, Hallett Cove The Brooklyn Drive Reserve playground is open and after rigorous testing by a KiA crew, it has been given the tick of approval. Not a huge space, but a great spot for locals, this timber themed playground has enough to keep most ages entertained while you take 5 during your probably hectic schedule! There is a swing (plus a toddler swing), as well as monkey bars (to be fair they are fairly low hanging so taller squids may drag their feet a tad) and a climbing tower with slide. Not bad! Chuck in some unique features like 4-square handball court and capture the flag instructions and a mud kitchen! For the parents, there are no toilets but there is a shaded seating area. No shade over the equipment either so it may get pretty hot as there aren't many trees either. Stuck for a bite to eat after your play? We highly recommend the nearby Cafe Rimini at Hallett Cove.
