Do you have a young entrepreneur in the family with a big idea? The City of Unley’s Fish Tank program is back for 2025, and this year it’s bigger and better than ever!
Since 2016, Fish Tank has been nurturing young business minds, providing mentorship, guidance, and a platform for young people to turn their creative ideas into real businesses. And for the first time, the program is open to primary-aged students!
Who Can Enter? Fish Tank 2025 is open to all young people who live, work, study, or play in Unley, with three competition categories:
8-12 years (NEW!)
13-17 years
18-25 years
With increased prize money up for grabs, this is an incredible opportunity for young people to bring their business dreams to life!
How to Get Involved Participants will have the chance to pitch their ideas to a panel of expert judges, including successful young entrepreneurs who have been through the program themselves.
Fish Tank organisers will also be visiting schools across Unley and engaging with young makers at events like the Kids Markets at Clarence Park Community Centre.
To help get those ideas flowing, free Entrepreneur Workshops will be held during the April school holidays at the Unley Civic Centre:
8-17 years – Thursday, 24 April | 2-4pm > Register here
18-25 years – Thursday, 24 April | 6-8pm > Register here
Pitch Night & Prizes With expert mentoring and fantastic prizes on offer, all roads lead to Pitch Night in June, where finalists will showcase their business concepts in front of a live audience and industry panel.
Don’t miss this chance to inspire the next generation of business leaders!

Unley Bowls. Previous site of the "World Famous in Adelaide" Unley Vert Ramp which the Legend, Tony Hawk once skated. Today two large semi modern bowls are in place. They feature big walls and smooth transitions. The roll in is smooth and accessible to school aged kids. Parking is unfortunately a few hundred metres away adjacent the oval. They are also beautifully shaded by the gum trees but are also a victim to all of their dropped leaves so remember to bring a broom. Nature play site adjacent by the creek and spooky Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tunnel at the upstream end. Find it at [wpgmza id="138" cat="1" marker="876" zoom="16"]
Nature play has to be one of the most wonderful ways to connect with your child. Not only does it give opportunities to have lots of fun, get a little bit messy and to get outdoors, but it also lets you be creative together! Here is a list of all the ways we love to play in nature! Create a mud kitchen – Grab a few bowls, spoons, jugs, saucepans – anything in the kitchen that you don’t really need and add dirt and water. Instant mud kitchen! Grab some nature items so that your mud pies look amazing! Get creative with clay or playdough – Set up your dough with flowers, herbs, shells, seed pods and pinecones for some amazing playdough or clay play! Paint with nature – Add your favourite nature odds and ends to the painting table. We love painting on rocks and putting them around our garden. Draw with Nature – Same idea as above, but use pastels, crayons, or chalks (less mess too!) Pinecone Weaving – Collect pinecones and add string or wool, for a fun weaving experience. Start a Nature Collection – Starting a collection is fun! It gives you something to look out…
