At 9am on any given Monday, Tuesday or Friday, young children and their parents wait patiently for the doors to open at the The Southern Adelaide Family Enrichment Centre (S.A.F.E. Centre) located in the beautiful seaside suburb of Christies Beach.

Tucked away in Fowey Street and attached to Christies Beach Baptist Church is an inviting, fun, colourful indoor play centre for children to enjoy which has a capacity of 40 children. Open 9am to 2pm, you’ll also find the Allsorts Cafe, staffed by volunteers serving an array of delicious food and drinks at very affordable prices.

The SAFE Centre isn’t like other play cafes. When you purchase an entry to the play area and/or refreshments, those proceeds go towards helping vulnerable members of the local community, particularly victims of family and domestic violence.

People don’t just come to the SAFE Centre for a coffee in peace while their children play; they come for connection, to be welcomed with a friendly smile or for a time out with friends and family. You will also find a quiet sensory room and babies play area, all of which will soon be enhanced by a separate party room for birthday parties!

For just $6 entry, let the kids burn off some energy while knowing their enjoyment – and yours – is going some way towards helping those in need.

PS: We hear the home-made cookies are the best in town.

Our backyard is a treasure trove of odds and ends that we have found in op shops, tip shops, industrial areas and garage sales!
