If you’re looking for somewhere with space……LOTS of space…….Anembo Park is your answer. Anembo Park is located between Mount Barker and Littlehampton just after the Hahndorf turn off and after a recent upgrade this place is awesome!
The park spans over 29 acres and include one fully fenced softball diamond, two Soccer ovals, a hockey pitch, six tennis courts you can hire, BMX track, remote control car track, playground with BBQ and seating area, public toilets and a clubhouse with canteen and bar facilities.
There is also an open space available for your fur babies to have a play at the park too (I’m talking about your dogs)
The brand new playground includes some fabulous climbing equipment, all made of wood so it won’t get too hot in summer (albeit a bit of shade would be handy), but there are lots of big shady trees around to escape the heat.
slide
climbing walls and frames
firemans pole
rockers
flying fox
swings
Don’t come just for the playground though. Pack up the balls, frisbee, cricket set, remote control cars, bikes, kites and all that outdoor fun stuff and let the kids run around in the wide open space………and don’t forget the dog!
Find it at: Adelaide Road, Mount Barker Keith Stephenson Park had been upgraded and re-opened in December 2023! Keith Stephenson Park is the premier district reserve for the Council area. It hosts major events such as carols by candlelight and is a meeting place for families across the district. It is located on the Laratinga Trail, a shared use path that is the spine of the open space network and links as far as Newnham Estate and the Summit Sport and Recreation Park. The play space upgrade on Keith Stephenson Park has a focus on inclusivity, with ‘something for everyone’ as one of the key principles behind the design. This includes integrating nature play experiences with more traditional constructed play equipment. Analysis undertaken by Council and early engagement with local parents of children with disabilities has shown that there is currently a gap in the district wide open space network for these user groups. The upgrade also aims to bring the level of the playground in line with the parks district status and contemporary thinking around playgrounds. We love the surface underfoot for toddlers, elderly grandparents and any one with mobility challenges. Well played. Also noteworthy, they have installed several…
Image credit: City of Playford This park is part of a nature reserve, with a small playground that includes a slide, spinner, swings and some cool climbing/balancing equipment Image credit: City of Playford It's a great area for a run around, kick of the ball or somewhere you can sit with the dog (on leash) while the kids have a play Image credit: City of Playford There's not many facilities around though, a bench seat and a rubbish bin is about it. No toilets or shade Thanks to Amy for this playground review 36 Seavington Road, Elizabeth Park[wpgmza id="138" cat="1" marker="559" zoom="16"]
Find it at: George Street, Parkside A nice little set up, with a heap of Pros but a few Cons too. Parking was a nightmare, a little side street not far from Greenhill Road was a tough parking challenge, but once you stop it is quite nice what they have done with the space. Fully fenced which is fab! The area has been fenced off into a large playground space and an open grassed section for sports, dogs etc. The playground is also fully shaded and has seating, with a nearby water fountain also very handy. The play equipment is great for the younger primary kids, a really nice big piece of equipment with a slide and lots of climbing apparatus. No toilets at this one sadly, but a great little 'pop in for 10 minutes' playground.
I'm a Mum of 2 girls and also one 4 legged ratbag of a dog called Rudy. I work from home and family balance out the work/school hours with lots of beach time, walks, bike rides skates, scooters and surfs. We like being outside. Our favourite places in Adelaide are the Adelaide Hills and Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park
