Looking for a unique and hands-on experience to enjoy with the kids? The Discover Adelaide with Catch N Cook package, offered by Crowne Plaza Adelaide in partnership with Catch N Cook World Tour, is a fantastic way to combine adventure, education, delicious food and a luxurious nights accommodation.

We recently had the opportunity to try it out firsthand and had a claw-some time!

Our Catch N Cook Experience

The experience includes one night accommodation including breakfast for 2 at Crowne Plaza Adelaide, plus a 2-hour Blue Swimmer Crab catching expedition at Glenelg Beach, featuring a 1-hour crabbing session followed by a tasting experience at a beautiful seaside restaurant.

After a comfy nights sleep and breakfast at KOOMO Restaurant we made our way to Glenelg to meet our tour guide, Kim who provided us with all the necessary crabbing gear. From there, we made our way to the end of the jetty, where Kim patiently showed the kids how to bait the nets and lower them into the water. He was absolutely fantastic with the children—getting down on their level, explaining everything in an engaging, age-appropriate way, and making the entire experience so much fun.

While catching a crab isn’t guaranteed, the tasting experience is! After our crabbing adventure, we headed to Sammy’s on the Marina, where the staff were incredibly welcoming. The tasting experience was beautifully presented and tasted exceptional—a real treat for seafood lovers. Whether or not you manage to catch your own crab, this part of the experience ensures that everyone gets to enjoy a delicious, fresh seafood dish.

More Than Just a Crabbing Adventure

The Catch N Cook experience is not only fun but also educational, teaching kids about marine life and sustainable fishing in a way that truly engages them. Plus, with Crowne Plaza Adelaide’s family-friendly accommodation and amenities—such as daily breakfast at KOOMO Restaurant and a heated outdoor infinity pool—it’s the perfect opportunity for a memorable city staycation.

To join in the fun, families need to book at least three days in advance, and transportation to Glenelg Beach is required. The beach is an easy 12-15 minute drive or why not jump on the tram, with the stop an easy walk from the hotel.

If you’re looking for a hands-on, interactive adventure that’s perfect for all ages, the Discover Adelaide with Catch N Cook experience is a must-try.
