In the beautiful Adelaide Hills, just down the road from Gorge Wildlife Park, the Cudlee Cafe is a gorgeous spot for lunch, coffee, cake and a play in the picturesque grounds. Since the devastating Dec 2019 bushfires, the local area needs your visit more than ever so plan a day in the Hills to support these communities.
On the drive up Gorge Road we saw no less than 5 koalas from the car alone, but be sure to take care as lots of cyclists use that road especially during TDU season!
Cudlee Cafe does a great selection of meals and pride themselves on the use of fresh, locally sourced produce – so eating here helps the whole community! Much of the organically grown produce is also on sale at the cafe so while you’re there, pick yourself up some to take home as well.
There is seating inside, but if you’re bringing the family and it’s a nice day, we recommend heading outside and down the stairs to the wonderful, green, shady seating area. The place feels like your own private secret garden and has a playground for the kids – the best spot to enjoy a relaxing lunch and delicious coffee!
Head to Cudlee Cafe on a day trip, to include a visit to Gorge Wildlife Park, then drive towards Woodside, Lobethal and other bushfire affected locations to enjoy any number of spots to wine taste (like Golding, Tomich and Bird in Hand), or have a tasting, some pizza and a play in the gorgeous Barristers Block mega sandpit with onsite mini farm! Check out Melba’s Chocolates nearby in Woodside, or head the other way to areas like Gumeracha and the Big Rocking Horse!
Cudlee Cafe is located in the main street of Cudlee Creek (can’t miss it on Cudlee Creek Road) and is open 8am to 5pm Tuesday to Sunday. Plus open for dinner every 1st and 3rd Friday night of the month, as well as all public holidays except Christmas, Good Friday and New Years Eve. Cafe Bonython at the Bonython Park Playground is definitely a Kids In Adelaide favourite! You could literally spend a day here! Offering shelter and a range of seating within eyeball distance of the playground, there's so much happening at this delightful little space. Better still, it's GOOD. Good food, good coffee and a heap of good initiatives for kids, birthdays, high teas, events, all of it. They have really thought of every thing - it's part café, part party venue, part lolly shop! There is a new menu as of December 2023, so we have just been back to check that out AND they have put in the cutest indoor play area for toddler / pre schooler age. Seriously, take us here any day of the week. On our most recent visit we absolutely loved the new kids grazing box. It's EXACTLY the kind of thing that spins our wheels. Kids want an epic milkshake or babyccino? Café Bonython. Need somewhere to take Nan for a cuppa, but the kids also need to burn around and be kids?Cafe Bonython. Want the cutest cupcake or you know, a poop emoji cup cake? This place! It is ALL here. We are so…
We love finding a little hidden gem and that's exactly what The Essence Cafe is. Located in beautiful Stirling (Adelaide Hills) The Essence Cafe is tucked away behind the main road with indoor and outdoor seating available, and plenty of car parking nearby. There's also room for prams and high chairs and it's a popular spot for families to grab a coffee and a treat or go all out with a delicious breakfast or lunch. The menu has all your favourite breakfast options. Smashed avo, bacon and eggs, waffles, granola, croissants and more. If you want my tip, get the smashed avo and halloumi - it was divine.Kids can grab a toasty, banana bread or we loved their kids grazing plate with fruit, carrot, corn chips, tomatoes and sultanas. The perfect size to keep those little mouths and hands busy while you try and enjoy your own food (well that's the plan anyway). There are also more substantial kids options like burgers and a kids bacon and egg breakfast if tummies are hungry.Lunch you can grab a one of their yummy looking salad, burrito or nachos bowls, a burger and plenty of baguette and wrap options. We also treated our…
I think I just died and went to brunch heaven. I definitely have a new contender for best brunch on Yorke Peninsula...while staying in Moonta, we dropped into Taste The Yorke, a delightful and delicious café on the main drag in town. Run by Jo and her lovely staff, Taste The Yorke gives locals and tourists alike somewhere to support local Yorkes businesses in more ways than one. The café consists of mainly outdoor seating around an undercover verandah, with a few tables inside. Head indoors to order and have a look at the local produce and products for sale. Jo gets in fresh bread from the famous Minlaton Bakery, plus you'll find shelves stocked with goodies from MBC Foods, Broughton River Gourmet and plenty of other local Yorke Peninsula products. Let's get to the menu though! So much to choose from....the menu is mostly centered around brunch, with some lunch options such as quiche, salad and cornish pasties (if you haven't had a cornish pasty while in Moonta, you are missing out!). The whole menu is available all day though, so you really don't need to decide between brunch or lunch! For the kids there is the "Little Yorkers:…
