Dora Gild Playground is a great little play space hidden at the end of Churchill Ave in Clarence Park. We have been there a few times and really enjoy it – with plenty of options to keep a range of aged kids busy for a while. It is great for those with older and younger kids as there are separate areas suitable for either the toddler age or 5-9 year olds, but they are close enough that parents can keep a good eye on everyone at the same time! My son loves swings and there are 4 at this playground, although only 1 is a toddler/baby harness swing. There’s a toddler area with a small, safe ladder, lookout and slide, a sandpit and ride and stand on spring rockers.

In the older section there is a great twisty slide, climbing frame, ropes and a merry go round (which my toddler loved since there were no bigger kids around at the time!). There are clean toilets, rubbish bin and park benches with lots of shade. Well recommended for a range of ages and fully fenced on all 4 sides for peace of mind!

Open all hours, toilets close at 8pm

  • Find it at: Hartley Road Flinders Park A nice little playground with enough equipment choice to keep the kids busy for a few minutes at least! It could do with a few extra features as it has no fence, no shade (apart from some nearby trees), no water fountains, no seating and no BBQ. The toilet is only at the nearby footy club, so if that is closed then you are out of luck too. But it does have a cool little wooden boat, a huge nest swing and a heap of regular swings (including one for the toddlers). A good spot for the locals and with the nearby oval, plenty of space for everyone to run around (sadly due to the lack of seating parents will also have to run around as well. Soz.) Hartley Road is fairly busy so keep a watchful eye on the kids at this one.

  • Find it at: Spring Crescent at Banksia Park What a cracking little playground, tucked away in the backstreets of Banksia Park near the Tea Tree Gully Footy Club. With a great treehouse style fort and slide combo, mixed in with swings and lots of climbing equipment for younger and older kids alike, there will be something for everyone here. No toilets sadly but we reckon there will be some at the nearby sporting clubs, however there are BBQ facilities, shaded seating and plenty of grassed area (and tennis courts!) to run off some BBQ snags. Not fenced, which isn't really an issue with the back street location though. We loved the scenery, set amongst some huge gum trees and overlooking the adjacent ovals. A great spot for locals.

  • Find it at: Price Ave, Clapham A small but well-maintained fully fenced and dog-friendly park.Play equipment includes monkey bars, a slide, a seesaw, a climbing wall and two swings. There’s also enough grassed area for a game of cricket, football, soccer, frisbee or whatever activity takes your fancy. There are no toilets or BBQs but it does have two tables with benches if you’d like to bring your own snacks. The reserve is popular with kookaburras, and if you’re lucky you can even spot a koala from time to time.
