Fairbanks Drive has had a huge upgrade with the completion of a fabulous playground to accompany the recently completed rage3 cage.
Not sure what a rage cage is? Its an all-in-one sporting…..cage (funnily enough) where kids can play a variety of sports including basketball rings, soccer goals, cricket stumps, a climbing wall, hopscotch and ball target holes.
This playground is a paradise for older kids, featuring a play tower, climbing net, nest swing, carousel, flying fox, water play, and more! There’s plenty of open grass for running and playing, along with pathways perfect for bikes and scooters. And to top it off, there are clean and well-maintained toilet facilities – sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference!
This was co-funded in partnership with the City of Salisbury and the Australian Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

Find it at: Maxwell Road, Para Hills West Well isn't this a little bit sensational! The new playground at The Paddocks Reserve is OPEN and we must say, this is one of the best new playgrounds we have come across in a while, with some pretty spectacular pieces of equipment to keep the kids busy for ages! With access best via Maxwell Road, there is so much to talk about here its hard to know where to start. We have to start off with the Interactive Play and Sound Arch, which we haven't seen before but was just brilliant. Throw in some sand and water play, 2 MASSIVE climbing structures, a flying fox and plenty of space to run around and play. What a spot! Don't forget the sporting fields with netball courts, football oval and an uninterrupted lawn expanse with a number of soccer pitches, cricket pitches and nets. Such a fabulous facility for the locals. This one is a work in progress with plenty planned for the future (Toilets are coming!!) which is so exciting for the northerners.
Find it at: Brown Terrace, Salisbury Well this looks just a little bit epic doesn't it. The exciting new playspace Salisbury Oval has opened and for the older and more adventurous kids, it is right up their alley thanks to an enormous slide tower that is a challenge to climb but great fun on the way down! Plenty of new amenities to enjoy as well, with the playground also including a flying fox, swings, see saw, carousel, nature play elements, trampoline, sand pit and rock climbing wall. There’s also fitness equipment (decoration we call it) , a multi-use sports court and a grassed area for all the sports. Did we mention the toilets? Because thankfully they have added them here along with a BBQ area and picnic setting. Plenty of parking too along Brown Terrace. Word of warning, it looks stunning but when we went along with a few under 5s, we were a bit disappointed at the lack of things to do. Our crew were so excited but just a tad too small to really enjoy this one. image credit City of Salisbury
Find it at: South Parklands, Lightsview A fabulous adventure playground has been added to the Lightsview development, which is well worth the trip! Opened in April 2021, the nature play themed park includes water play, a huge number of logs and balancing beams to test out kids and parents alike! Throw in a climbing hill with slide, a basketball court, sand play area, in-ground trampolines, swings and even more slides, we love this park for older kids. For the parents there are a couple of BBQs and some under cover bench seats and tables. The nearby wetlands are sensational and really add to the relaxing vibe of the park, and we absolutely loved the little board walk path between the ponds. Toilets have now been built (new since the park opening) but there's not a lot of shade and parking can be tricky so be prepared you might have to walk a little way to get here. NB: Toddlers might be better at the Lightsview Toddler Playground as this area is unfenced and quite big and with the wetlands nearby it can be a bit hard with little ones.
I'm a Mum of 2 girls and also one 4 legged ratbag of a dog called Rudy. I work from home and family balance out the work/school hours with lots of beach time, walks, bike rides skates, scooters and surfs. We like being outside.
