We recently did a huge 11 night trip to the Yorke Peninsula with the kids in tow – fantastic trip, but by the time we got to our second to last stop, we were running a bit low on the food we had packed when we left home and who has time for supermarket shopping on holiday? Enter, Grazing Yorkes! We got in touch with Emily and ordered a cheese platter box and a breakfast box and she delivered them direct to our accommodation so once we checked in, we could settle back with a drink and graze the afternoon away!
How convenient and a little bit special too, which is what you want when you are having a weekend away right? It’s such a dream, you can order these and have them delivered any where around the Copper Coast (small delivery fee may apply depending exactly where you want the boxes to show up – but Moonta, Wallaroo & Kadina are free!)
The grazing box included several cheeses, crackers, dips, strawberries, cured meats and more. We loved it, the kids loved it and there was PLENTY – so much that we had enough for sunset nibbles the next night too!
Of course the kids loved it too, because kids love options and grazing, it just suits them doesn’t it?
Our breakfast box included everything we needed for an easy gourmet breakky including bacon, eggs, rolls, yoghurt, muesli, muffins and juice! The kids thought they were it and a bit – certainly beat their normal soggy weetbix!
Grazing Yorkes is also soon launching kids cooking classes for ages 12+. Check out their socials for the details and then between Grazing Yorkes and your own kids, you will never have to cook again! (We wish….)
SO, when you next head to Yorkes for a weekend, the holidays, a celebration or any visit at all really, book all your snacking or catering needs with Grazing Yorkes. Our experience was brilliant, and of course they can cater on a much larger scale for weddings and events too…..check them out below!
Looking for the BEST gelati on the entire Yorke Peninsula? Tucked just under 5 minutes from Moonta town centre down the Spencer Hwy is The Coffee Barn & Gelateria, a spot that’s quietly legendary on the Copper Coast. Sure, it might be off the usual tourist track, but trust us… everyone in town knows it’s worth the detour. Carl and Emma took over a few years ago and have lovingly kept the original charm while adding their own fun, fresh ideas. From quirky cars and statues in the carpark to a cosy café, courtyard, and enclosed verandah, every corner has personality. It’s kind of like walking into Nanna’s house, with that old-school vibe and all the delicious things you can eat laid out in front of you. The star of the show (for the kids at least)? Gelati, made fresh onsite with flavours that change daily. When we visited, we tried Milo and a few other rotating favourites, all were incredible. Kids go wild for the “Especially For Kids” sundae, where they pick a flavour and pile it high with cream, marshmallows, smarties, and chocolate sauce. And the adults? Dessert pancakes, Belgian waffles, donuts, cake slices, or fruit scones with…
Dhilba Guuranda - Innes National Park is our favourite places to visit in South Australia so we've come up with a few Innes Itinerary ideas in case you're planning a school holiday visit So, where is Innes you ask? Innes National Park is located on the Yorke Peninsula, around 3.5 hours from Adelaide. You'll more than likely head North out of Adelaide to Port Wakefield, turn left and drive past Ardrossan, Minlaton, Warooka and then into Marion Bay, the last town before you hit Innes. Head to the Visitor Centre as you enter to pay your car entry fee (or buy it online before you go) and get a map and information from the friendly Park Rangers. Who would love it? There is something for everyone at Innes but keen surfers, campers and fisher(wo)men this is your national park paradise! Unfortunately mountain bikers and furry friends are not permitted. What would my kids love the most? Beautiful BeachesIf blue water, white sand and not many people is your idea of beach heaven, Innes has them!Spend hours exploring the crystal clear rock pools at Shell Beach, swim in the bluest of blue waters at Dolphin Beach, drive your car onto the…
It's called The Shores Eatery for a reason! You'll find this fabulous cafe right on the foreshore at Wallaroo at the end of the Jetty - we think it's one of the best places to eat on the Yorke Peninsula. Great food, great views, great service and a great welcoming vibe for the kids. Let's start with that- as soon as we walked in the kids spotted the basket of bubbles and chalk on the counter and were thrilled to be told by the staff that they could help themselves. This bought us a good ten minutes to choose a table (you have a choice of indoor or outdoor dining, all with fantastic views!) and peruse the menu while the kids enthusiastically drew chalk pictures on the ground and waved their bubble wands. The menu here is huge with a great range of all day brunch options, burgers, fresh local seafood and dishes with an Asian twist. The kids menu is simple yet fun with some faves such as toasties, pancakes (our kids choice), chicken plus bacon and eggs. The drinks list also packs a punch with a massive range of smoothies, milkshakes, juices, hot drinks and a Clare Valley…
Wife of a FIFO miner, but don't let that define her. Mum of two jetty jumping brats aged tween and teen (who live on fresh air, saltwater and attitude). Bare feet not heels. Hats not hair styles. Beaches not bars. Food over fashion. If you can't find her she's likely 'home' on the Yorke Peninsula.
