Birthday memories are forever so it’s important to make them count, after all – they are only young once!
For the last year, I’ve heard approximately 3243 birthday party ideas, as my daughter Ivy, dreamed up all the things she wanted to do for her four-year-old party. She was adamant she wanted a Frozen theme and considering every second girl at pre-school owned an “Elsa” princess dress, we were content to run with this idea if it kept the majority of the guests happy.
Now that we’d decided on the theme, the question remained… where do you take them that’s special? And, how do you keep so many kids at one birthday party entertained? We wanted something with a little more pizazz than a traditional home party and to be honest, DIY just isn’t for me and I’m not ashamed to say, I’d much rather outsource the fun!
When you are wanting to spoil your little (well actually, not so little) one, and give them a birthday party to go down in history, check out Ilookmystyle. Located at Hindmarsh, this ultimate party venue caters for all ages with a range of themes and packages to choose from that the host and their guests will love. From a big bash for your tiny tot, a pretty party for your little lady, a terrific pre-teen disco or even a small soirée for a few close friends, Ilookmystyle has everything under one roof. Each party follows a similar structure. Expect beauty treatments, activities, games, dances plus plenty of Instagram-able moments!
Our little party goers squealed with delight as hosts, “Elsa” and “Anna” appeared through a secret door to start our celebration off with a sprinkle of magic. Ivy was waited on hand and foot, like a real princess, while her royal guests enjoyed having their nails painted, as well as their hair styled and makeup done complete with glitter, coloured hair spray and face gems in a luxurious pamper room. Now, we’re all about inclusivity and the boys (much to their initial disgust) LOVED this just as much as the girls, getting involved with huge smiles and high fives all round.
A child’s party isn’t complete without fairy bread and Ivy’s party was no exception. After a glamorous makeover, the kids were led to the High Tea room for lunch. Ilookmystyle organised this beautiful Frozen-themed table setting with all the trimmings, serving hungry bellies nuggets, chips, fruit, fairy bread and refreshing pink lemonade before it was time to play again.
Burning off some energy in the uber-cool disco room was a good idea at this point. Get ready to groove on the interactive LED dance floor which let me add, was a massive hit for this age group. They danced and sang their little hearts out as ‘Let it go’ and ‘Do you want to build a snowman?’ blasted from the speaker. Elsa and friends did a wonderful job of including all the kids, even busting a move or two themselves. Pass the Parcel is one of those all-time favourite party games that’s stood the test of time and our little ones happily joined in, eager to win prizes from the box of treats. Parachute was another well-executed activity for the under 8 age bracket.
The fun wasn’t over yet. Parents watched as the kids strut their stuff on the runway, showing off their newfound look and posing for photos in front of the paparazzi (AKA me). The birthday girl was the centre of attention and I loved how this simple but enjoyable activity, boosted her self-confidence and self-belief in an experience with her besties she won’t soon forget.
The cake ceremony was equally as impressive as guests gathered around the table to wish Ivy a happy birthday. The helpful staff cut the kids a piece of cake each and served it in the high tea room. The cake matched the Frozen theme and was a white mud from the Cheesecake Shop. Literally the only thing other than party favours I actually had to bring myself – how’s that for a headache free party?! Personally, I was celebrating too in my own unique way, knowing that the mess is one less thing I had to worry about.
Wowing both the children and their parents, I can honestly say, hand on my heart – this party was 5 stars!
Yes, the level of investment doesn’t come cheap but trust me when I say, you do not have to lift a finger. Just sit back, order a coffee from the on-site cafe, smile at what you’ve accomplished and enjoy. If this isn’t an event worth melting for, I don’t know what is!

Wilbur's Wildlife is the up-close native animal experience that comes to you. They will bring along 8-10 of their friendly native animals for a hands-on experience where your child and their friends will get to pat and hold the animals. Their group of animal ambassadors include snakes, lizards, frogs, insects and possums among others. The birthday child will become a junior ranger helping to introduce their friends to the animals and getting the most opportunities for holds and hands-on interaction. As a mobile operation Wilbur's Wildlife can come to you across South Australia at a venue which is convenient for you.
