Best Adelaide Fringe Shows for Kids | 20 February – 22 March 2026 | Family Guide

When is Adelaide Fringe 2026?

The 2026 Adelaide Fringe runs from Friday, February 20, 2026 – Sunday, March 22, 2026

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and no, we’re not talking about Christmas. We’re talking about the 2026 Adelaide Fringe!

For four glorious weeks, Adelaide comes alive with creativity, colour and celebration, and there is a huge line-up of family-friendly shows to enjoy. From kids’ dance performances and circus spectaculars to live theatre based on much-loved children’s stories, interactive music shows, clever puppet theatre (that even Mum and Dad will love) and high-energy discos just for kids – there truly is something for every age and interest.

The Adelaide Fringe is a brilliant cultural experience for families. Whether you have babies, little kids, tweens or teenagers, there are shows designed specifically for your stage of family life. Because Fringe performances are generally relaxed and informal, they’re also a fantastic way to introduce children to the arts and teach them basic theatre etiquette in a fun, low-pressure way. Along the way, your family might pick up a new dance move, learn a circus trick, discover a catchy song or even take away a meaningful life lesson.

Most of the family-friendly shows run on weekends, making it easy to plan a fun Fringe day out. Browse our top picks below, or head to the Children’s section of the official Adelaide Fringe website to start booking. Will you choose a beloved children’s ballet, a nostalgic favourite like Peter Combe, a magical bubble show, or something quirky and completely new? Whatever you pick, you can pair your show with vibrant Fringe venues and delicious festival food for a memorable family outing.

While many performances are held in the main Fringe hubs in the heart of the city, there are also shows happening across Adelaide’s suburbs at community centres and local theatres, plus regional performances further afield. No matter where you live, you’re likely to find something close to home.

For families looking to add a meaningful cultural experience to their Fringe adventure, the First Nations Cultural Tours at the Adelaide Botanic Garden are a wonderful option. These free tours explore native plants, bush tucker and deep cultural traditions, offering insight into the enduring connection of Australia’s First Peoples to Country.

We’ll be updating this page regularly with our favourite Adelaide Fringe shows for kids and families throughout the festival. Check back often, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for reviews, highlights and behind-the-scenes tips.

If you’re a performer or show interested in working with us, please get in touch at events@kidsinadelaide.com.au.

This must be one of the most unique (and awesome) shows this fringe. Featuring a mix of pro wrestling, medieval larping and theatre, this is 60 minutes of sword fighting, wrestling-style combat combined with a simple storyline that will have all ages engaged from start to finish.

Following the medieval tournament format, pick your team as you enter and then cheer (loudly is the preferred volume) for the vikings or the royal knights. Located in the big top of The Peacock at at Gluttony, it is spacious and comfortable, with photo ops available with your fave warriors after.

This is honestly so much fun, brought to you by the team from Riot City Wrestling (fun fact: some very famous WWE names have graced their rings), it is great fun for all ages.

The Pack

From Adelaide’s own CIRKIDZ, The Pack is a Circus show exploring the intersection of circus and everyday objects, inviting young people to engage with their environment and each other through high energy physical performance. Using found and circus-inspired materials, they test ideas of weight, flight, risk, and trust—mirroring their own dichotomy in search of identity, belonging, and autonomy.

As a creative ensemble, they navigate the complexities of adolescence: wanting to stand out while blending in, pushing limits while seeking safety. Through this process, they shape space and are shaped by it—considering what they bring, what they leave behind, and how their presence can hopefully leave a place changed for the better.

This ensemble is a force to reckoned with when they all pull together to create their future.

Maho Magic Bar is like stepping straight into Tokyo and having reality politely thrown out the window. Neon lights, buzzing energy, and magicians performing inches from your face will make you gasp, laugh, and question everything you thought was possible. This is the kind of magic where you grab your friend, scream, and spend the rest of the night trying to work out what just happened. Slick, funny, wildly impressive and completely immersive, it’s impossible not to be swept up in it.

The earlier family-friendly sessions are perfect for kids 7+. They hit the sweet spot between fast-paced fun and genuine skill, making it an ideal introduction to live magic. The interaction is constant, the humour lands, and the reactions from young audiences are half the entertainment.

By night, the show shifts into a sleek, adults-only vibe, perfect for date night or a catch-up with friends. Polished and inventive, with clever tricks and big laughs, this is Fringe magic at its absolute best.

KAPUT is proof that you don’t need words to keep an audience of kids completely entertained at Adelaide Fringe.  The physical comedy in this 2 man show was wonderfully expressive and easy to follow, making it thoroughly engaging for all ages. A live piano accompaniment added something special, giving the show a charming, old-fashioned entertainment feel that perfectly matched the onstage chaos. Creative, clever, playful and silly to the max, this is physical comedy at its best. Loved this show.

As a neurodivergent family, what a fun, energetic and truly welcoming show this was! Sometimes our world can feel big, overwhelming, unbalanced and just “a little too much”. ‘Tune In, the frequency within’ is a high-energy, physical performance exploring big emotions and self regulation through music and dance. Our kids absolutely loved it! Albeit quirky (in true Fringe style) the kids laughed, danced and connected to the show, acknowledging their own anxiety and feelings portrayed by the characters. The music is on point and such a fun vibe from a young cast!   This is a great Adelaide Fringe option for kids, particularly 7-15yos who want to better understand their emotions. A great reminder of the power of music and dance!

I wasn’t sure what to expect walking into this show, but it turned out to be such a fun, fascinating and engaging Fringe experience.

The wrestlers brought plenty of personality and humour, which made the show entertaining from start to finish. The host did a fantastic job explaining the importance of sumo wrestling and the rich cultural traditions behind it, in a way that was easy to understand and really held the audience’s attention.

One of the biggest highlights was the audience participation, where volunteers were invited on stage to suit up in their own sumo outfits and try it for themselves. This had the crowd laughing and cheering, and the older kids absolutely loved seeing everyday people step into the ring.

It was the perfect mix of action, education and entertainment that had us completely captivated. A truly unique Fringe experience and definitely something a little different to add to your family’s Fringe list.

Keep in Touch is one of those Fringe shows that sneaks up on you. You arrive expecting impressive circus (and you absolutely get it), but you leave having had a proper think about how often your phone steals your focus.

The contemporary dance elements, often performed with oversized props, add texture and momentum between the big acrobatic moments. It’s visually polished and physically demanding, and overall a tremendous show from this professional troupe.

This might just be the fringesiest Fringe show we’ve ever seen… and we loved it.

Tape Face: 20 somehow manages to deliver an hour of constant laughs without saying a single word (yep… the tape on his face stays on the whole time). It’s all expressions, music, random props and loads of audience participation.

Honestly, we had no idea what was coming next. One minute someone’s pulled on stage, the next there’s a doll stuck to a helmet getting smacked with a totem tennis ball. It’s completely random… but also weirdly clever. Our faces actually hurt from smiling by the end. We didn’t expect to love it as much as we did, but the randomness, the creativity and the pure silliness totally won us over.

Unexpected, brilliantly ridiculous and exactly the kind of fun that makes the Adelaide Fringe sooo bloody good!

La Ronde by Strut & Fret is not for the faint-hearted… and honestly, thank goodness for that.

Jaw-dropping acrobatics, a soundtrack that hits you right in the chest and constant “did that just happen?!” moments every few minutes. Comedy doesn’t exist without an instigator.

Good thing Frenchy is here to provide one as he returns to the stage with a brand new show featuring his finest, cheekiest work yet.

Social media menace Frenchy initially gained a following via his viral sketches but it’s his unforgettable live shows & lightning fast ‘crowd work’ which has audiences all over the world flocking to see him perform.

He spends years writing, performing and perfecting his jokes but the ad-lib is where Frenchy aka ‘the instigator’ really shines. Sometimes he’s instigating the crowd – sometimes they’re instigating him – either way when Frenchy starts riffing it’s always world class & highly memorable.

Elixir at Fool’s Paradise earns an easy five stars this Fringe. Sexy, cheeky and seriously talented, making it the perfect girls’ night out or fun date night. ★★★★

California Crooners Club is a slick, feel-good musical show that brings plenty of style to the Fringe stage.

Led by Hugh Sheridan alongside powerhouse vocalists Isaiah Firebrace and Emile Welman, the show blends classic crooner vibes with modern touches of pop, R&B and soul. Backed by a talented live band, the vocals are smooth, the harmonies are tight and the whole performance has that cool lounge-style energy that makes it easy to sit back and enjoy. There’s a great mix of timeless songs and playful moments throughout, with natural charm and humour keeping the audience engaged.

If we had one small note, it would be that the crowd clearly came for the music and could happily have had even more of it. A little less chatting and a few more songs would easily push this into five-star territory. Still, with standout vocals, brilliant musicianship and plenty of charisma on stage, California Crooners Club is a stylish and entertaining night out at the Adelaide Fringe.

Expect confessions that will make our mum blush and leave your core sore. This isn’t just stand-up; it’s stand-up therapy for the emotionally overworked and sexually underwhelmed.

Teardrops on My Dildo: Fully Charged is a filthy, hilarious riot of a stand-up hour. Vanessa absolutely nails the delivery, completely owns the stage, and had us crying with laughter from start to finish. Spend an hour here and you’ll feel like you’ve just been on the funniest, most unfiltered girls weekend of your life. Bold, cheeky and ridiculously funny, and honestly? We just want to be her friend. Grab your girlfriends, grab a bottle of wine, and fill your boots with this show.

Is it circus? Is it physical theatre? Is it a musical? Is it going to have the lady next to me gasping and the guy in front of me sobbing?
Yes… to all of the above.

The Mirror is a stunning showcase of physical theatre and truly mind-blowing acrobatics, makes this a fantastic Fringe pick for adults and older kids/teens who will appreciate the skill, artistry and storyline.

The performers moved with incredible strength and precision, creating moments that had the audience completely mesmerised one minute and laughing the next. The live vocalist added real atmosphere, elevating this performance beyond circus into something truly immersive. Clever use of lighting, live cameras and even a selfie stick created a unique point of difference and a clever mash up of songs you’ll know but have never heard sung that way, was a crowd favourite. In three words, a visual feast!

Twenty Sixteen

Featuring an all star 8-piece band including Kylie Auldist (The Bamboos), Jaron Jay and Dusty Lee Stephensen (27 Club), this new live rockumentary (from the creators of 27 CLUB) will reclaim the year the music died.

In 2016, we felt the loss of music icons David Bowie, George Michael, Prince, Leonard Cohen, Maurice White (Earth Wind & Fire), Sharon Jones, Leon Russell and many more. With historic global events also occurring, 2016 has become one of the most significant years in recent history. 10-years on, it’s time to celebrate these artists and revel in their music that became the soundtrack to our lives.

If you loved the 27 Club shows in previous years, you’ll be thrilled to see the concept expand with Twenty Sixteen, a brilliant new tribute celebrating the incredible artists we lost that year. Featuring powerful live performances of music from icons like Prince, David Bowie, and The Eagles, this show is packed with nostalgia, big vocals, and seriously talented musicians who do these legendary artists proud. It’s a reminder of just how much incredible music came from that era, delivered with energy and heart by a hugely skilled band.

Our tip: don’t be shy about getting up and having a dance. This is absolutely a five-star show and the talent on stage is undeniable, but it almost feels like it could kick off even harder if the audience were encouraged to get on their feet and boogie a little earlier in the night. With music this good, sitting still is basically impossible anyway.

Massive talent, brilliant tunes, and a show that reminds you just how good this music really is. Definitely one for music lovers at the Adelaide Fringe.

The Great Australian Song Book

Michael Paynter, one of Australia’s most versatile and celebrated performers, will take to the stage for a rare and up-close and personal show presenting — The Great Australian Songbook Live.

This exclusive one-night-only event will see Paynter showcase his extraordinary voice, dynamic range, and captivating stage presence, performing timeless Australian classics alongside very special guests.

Fresh from his critically acclaimed 2025 season in the lead role of Jesus in the sold-out Australian tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, Paynter has continued to wow audiences nationwide with his emotional depth and powerhouse vocals. In addition to his theatrical triumph, he remains a sought-after live collaborator, performing alongside Icehouse, Jimmy Barnes, Delta Goodrem, and The Veronicas.

Long Way to the Top is a high-energy celebration of iconic Australian rock, packed with the anthems many of us grew up with from bands like AC/DC, INXS, Cold Chisel and more. The musicians are seriously talented and the crowd clearly loved belting out the classics. We took our eleven-year-old along who enjoyed the experience, even if they probably didn’t fully appreciate just how legendary some of those tunes are yet. For the adults though, it’s a fun, nostalgic hour of Aussie rock that has the audience singing along and reliving some absolute bangers.

The Perfect Life (a musical by Amity Dry)

A warm, funny and deeply honest Australian musical about four women navigating the beautiful contradictions of modern womanhood: ambition and exhaustion, desire and duty, love and loss – and the friendships that carry them through it all. Created by ARIA Gold singer-songwriter Amity Dry (The Lighthouse), The Perfect Life is a celebration of the stories we don’t post: the bathroom-floor doubts, the unexpected joy, and the fierce loyalty that lasts when everything else shifts.

With a powerhouse cast starring Kerrie Anne Greenland (Miss Saigon, Les Misérables), Chloe Zuel (Hamilton, Six), Dee Farnell (Come From Away) and Amity Dry it is part confession, part love letter, and entirely relatable.

Amity Dry: The Perfect Life is a beautiful musical theatre production that takes the audience through the many stages and phases of women’s lives, from relationships, babies, careers, breakdowns, grief and everything in between. It’s funny, honest and incredibly relatable, with heartfelt storytelling woven through powerful songs and moments that will have you nodding along in recognition.

This is a full two-and-a-half-hour theatre experience, and it’s very different from the shows we’ve come to know and love from Amity over the years. This is wholesome, thoughtful and deeply human. Even more impressive, the show is completely original, with Amity Dry writing both the script and the music herself. Packed with talent and heart, it’s a brilliant reminder of the quality of local arts.

Bring your best friend, your mum, even your nan. You’ll laugh, smile and probably shed a tear as you recognise so many moments of life on stage. A gorgeous celebration of women supporting women, and a show that will leave you feeling seen, understood and very glad you came.

Packed with huge laughs and fun surprises, the Fairbairn brothers’ first ever live sketch show is sure to be a night to remember.

Don’t take your Grandma, she won’t like it. If you or your teenagers follow brothers Jaxon and Lachlan Fairbairn on TikTok, you’ll love seeing their chaotic online humour adapted for the stage. Fair Dinkum brings their short-form comedy to life with fast sketches, improv moments and that very familiar sibling energy that’s loud, messy and hard not to love. To be fair, this was their very first Fringe show, and yes, it was a bit hectic. But did they somehow make the speed bumps funny? Absolutely. Expect some language, plenty of bickering, and that no-sense-but-you-love-them dynamic that followers will instantly recognise. Don’t take your Grandma, she won’t like it.

The girls from Head First Acrobats are heating things up this Fringe with Lash Out, a fearless cabaret proving circus and burlesque are firmly in the girl-boss era.

This all-female show is bold, empowering, and packed with jaw-dropping talent. Expect fire breathing, mind-blowing aerials, knife swallowing, hula hoops, devilish dance, and just the right amount of tease. Every act is polished, high-energy, and expertly executed. You will be gasping, cheering, and maybe fanning yourself along the way.

What sets Lash Out apart is the attitude. Cheeky, playful, and confident, the performers keep the laughs coming, and audience interaction amps up the fun. This is a show that knows exactly what it is and owns it. Yes, it is adults-only. Yes, there is burlesque, sass, and a sultry strip tease. But underneath the glamour is genuine skill, strength, and elite circus artistry. Sexy, smart, and wildly entertaining, it delivers on every level.

Perfect for a girls’ night, a spicy date, or anyone craving something different this Fringe. Leave the kids at home, grab a drink, and enjoy an hour of fearless fun.

We went to Carly Electric: In My Box for a date night, hoping for laughs and some unapologetic comedy. While I felt the show fell a bit flat, the bizarre stories from her work as a sex worker were definitely interesting, and the audience interaction added some fun energy.

It’s not quite the laugh-out-loud night we were expecting, but if you’re curious about the topic and the wild, sometimes shocking messages she gets, it’s worth a look.

Bernie Dieter’s Club Kabarett

The hottest cabaret club East of Berlin comes to Adelaide!

Join deliciously salacious, über-award winning Bernie Dieter as her gin-soaked haus band soundtracks a night of breathtaking circus, gender-bending aerial and fire-breathing sideshow at its most provocative and hilarious best. With a dizzying lineup of world class artists it’s an unmissable night of debauchery done right. More than just a show; “It’s an exuberant, juicy, guns-blazing performance that makes other cabaret look stale and tame.“ (Arts Hub) A triumphant middle finger held up against the mundane, this show is a life affirming lightning bolt of pure, unadulterated joy!

Where has this show been hiding? We gave it a standing ovation. It’s just sensational!

Bernie Dieter is an absolute powerhouse. Huge vocals, huge presence, and completely commands the room from the moment she steps on stage. The whole show is driven by a live band, which makes everything hit harder, louder, sexier, and way more electric than a standard cabaret setup.

Led by Bernie, the stage is packed with a cast of ridiculously talented (and very hot) performers delivering jaw-dropping circus, burlesque, and cabaret acts that are equal parts wild, funny, and outrageously entertaining. Filthy, fabulous, and a whole lotta fun. This one’s for the freaks, the sl*ts, the punks… the people who want their Fringe a little bit naughty, with a side of brilliance and some cream cake.

Take your inhibitions, leave them at the door, and dive headfirst into the spectacle. This show doesn’t just entertain; it grabs you by the eyeballs, shakes you silly, and leaves you begging for more. Seriously… don’t miss it.
