We have been in love with Kies Family Wines up in the Barossa Valley for as long as we can remember. It was always such a beautiful stop off on a Barossa wine tour or day trip, that we could not wait to take the kids up to soak in the serenity and tuck into a fabulous meal.
Located out at Lyndoch, under an hour from the CBD, this stunning estate offers a family friendly vibe that we find really hard to come across in what are usually adult centric venues. Our intrepid foodies, Mr 2 and 8, loved the lawn games (in what was a predominantly fenced area which we loved) and the staff catered for us wonderfully with a small table which was perfect for the younger ones. Sitting on the bench, beer in hand (locally brewed of course….we chose Rehn Bier from the Barossa), sun beaming down watching the kids play cornhole (thats the official name for ‘throwing the bean bag in the hole’) and quoits was true adult core memory stuff. Better yet they didn’t even fight!
So we have covered the speccy views (also a lovely rotunda if you want to bring along a bigger group) but the food at the Monkey Nut Cafe was second to none. Options include fish and chips and kids platter box, which were a nice alternative to the usual nuggets and chips. The milkshakes were the real standout here and what the kids raved about, with plenty of flavours and just enough to give them the insta wow factor but not overboard to make the kids sick on sugar. Well played indeed! For the adults, marquee platters are an unsurprising recommendation here, but if you are flying solo like we were with the kids on our trip, the salt and pepper squid was to die for.
The cellar door is beautiful and many an hour can be whittled away at the bar chatting to Jess who will bring you up to speed on the inspiring family history of this iconic winery. Did we mention the Tea? Because you simply cannot leave without a visit to the adjoining Tea Shop to pick up on some of the families fabulous Teas.
All that can be left to say is book in a lunch and enjoy your drive through the beautiful Adelaide Hills. It will be a day to remember!
At a quick glance, you might think that West Beach Patisserie & Eatery is only for guests staying at the Big4 in West Beach Parks, but we are here to tell you that it is OPEN to the public, 7 days a week and your family are going to love some of the best coffee, food and hospitality going around! Legitimately, every thing this talented family touch in the hospitality space, turns to gold. Trust us, we have been following these legends around for a good few years now. You are going to feel like you are a resort guest far far away (minus the exorbitant resort prices) as you sit amongst the potted palms, greenery and white umbrellas, sipping a brunch champagne and devouring your eggs benedict. The car park and venue entrance are very simply accessed from Military Road - no need to actually enter the park at all! The small on site playground will keep young kids occupied while they wait for their food, and when it does come, sitting out doors is just the best this time of year and with kids in tow. Something about more space around you and less venue noise plus the…
If you are planning a Barossa trip with kids, we have found the perfect place for you to stay - Angaston Vineyard Motel. There is no need to fork out on a pricey B&B, Angaston Vineyard Motel has a range of rooms available to suit your group size and budget, plus it has a playground to keep the kids happy AND a pool for the warmer months. WE ARE THERE! Vineyards Motel is perfectly situated across from the Farmers Market (every Saturday between 7.30 and 11.30am) and Vintner's Bar & Grill. Salter's Restaurant is also only 500 metres from the motel, so you have plenty of dining options! If you want to dine closer to home, you can use the BBQ facilities next to the pool area. Imagine relaxing by the pool on a hot day, drink in hand, with the smell of a BBQ cooking - sounds perfect to us! The Rotunda lawn area has gorgeous views and is a great spot to enjoy a glass of wine - you are in the Barossa Valley after all! We all know it is the little things that make a big difference when you are travelling - things like undercover parking…
Here at Kids In Adelaide, we love a cafe that just gets it right - good service, good, food, good beverages and somewhere for the kids to play. Thankfully, Cantina61 at Seaford Rise ticks all the boxes! Under new ownership since April 2022, the team have been working hard to deliver a place you can go with family or friends and just enjoy yourselves and their great food! One of the first thing the new owners did was create a kids play area inside - surrounded by lounges and large tables for groups of parents to gather, the kids will stay occupied with drawing and toys while you indulge in some much needed adult conversation! If the weather is nice, you can opt to sit outside - the cafe is set far back enough from the road that you won't need to stress. If you are sitting outside, feel free to bring your dog along too - yep Cantina61 is pet-friendly and also offer pet biscuits and FREE puppacinos! Onto the menu and WOW, what a menu it is! You'll find breakfast favourites, through to nachos, schnitzels, burgers, veggie stacks and HEAPS MORE. The kids are well looked after with…
