After a sold out 2022 season, Light Creatures is back to take you behind the gates of Adelaide Zoo after dark!
Explore the Adelaide Zoo by night to encounter new up close and immersive experiences from lanterns, to interactive performance and even the newest Light Creature – a larger-than-life roaming tiger as it prowls the zoo grounds.
A nocturnal adventure for the whole family and featuring a few appearances from the zoo’s own furry and feathery residents, Light Creatures is back and bigger and even wilder than before.
Witness gentle giants that wake up at sunset, gaze up at floating jellyfish in the underwater world, and be swept away by the spectacle of the newest Light Creature – the Falcon!
The star of the show last year in 2022 without a doubt was Cahaya, the tiger that sat on his plinth in all his illuminated glory – then prowled around the Zoo once per session each evening with the help of some clever puppeteers. We recommend finding a spot along the roving creatures route to see them walk by.
As well as the main attractions, there were some other fun spots to find – a photo at the Light Wall, a dance on the psychedelic light floor and the conservation stations to learn more about the plight of some of the Adelaide Zoo animals.
Our kids were determined to see some real animals, and in 2022 we enjoyed a Night Creatures Wildshow and Pelican Dinner Time – check the times upon entry. The Nature Playground is also always OPEN if the zoo is open – it’s always a fun place to stop during the day, it’s even more fun by night!
If you got peckish, there were food and drink options available including burgers, loaded fries and donuts. It wasn’t a huge selection, so it would pay to pack a few other snacks for the littlies. There was even an option to grab wine, beer or even a MULLED WINE! Perfect for cold evenings.
Make sure you are prepared for some crowds (especially when the tiger is on the prowl!) and some dark spots – we saw one family wearing glowsticks which is the perfect way to spot one another quickly!
