A great spot to start your day/weekend/stay in McLaren Vale the Visitor Centre has all the information you need on where to visit, eat and of course sample some wine.
It also has a fabulous playground in a beautiful big open grassy space overlooking the vineyards. There’s a cafe onsite where you can grab a something to eat, a coffee or a wine and watch the kids play
Find it at: Malwa Street, Glandore The fabulous playground at the Glandore Community Centre is now open and we think it looks sensational! The highlight of course is the huge 'birdcage' climbing structure which leads into a great tube slide, which is big enough to keep the older kids entertained but also is just right for the brave younger ones to try. There is a 3 on 3 basketball court, and a table tennis table plus plenty of lawned area's including a mini soccer pitch (perfect spot to pack the car with ALL the balls). We loved the little pump track for the smaller crew to ride and scoot around, plus the artwork scattered around adds a really nice touch to a very well put together facility for the community. Parents will enjoy the seating, as well as the natural shade from the mature trees in the park, and there is a small fence that offers some barrier between the playground and the road. It is only a relatively quiet side street however, so it is in a good spot for a bit of peace and quiet well away from busy South Road. Toilets can be found in the adjoining…
Pizza? Check! Wine? Check! Space for the kids to run and play? Check! Stunning gardens straight out of a fairytale? Check! Mums and Dads, Lazy Ballerina is your ultimate lunch spot nestled between the Fleurieu Peninsula and the Adelaide Hills. As soon as you walk up the path to enter Lazy Ballerina, you will know you have found somewhere special. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous and it is well worth visiting a few times a year to see how they change with the seasons. The best way to experience Lazy Ballerina is to book in for their "Let Us Feed You" menu - they will bring out platters full of local produce followed by delicious wood oven pizzas. It's just $45 per head for adults, $12 for under 7's and $20 for under 15's. Their attentive and friendly staff will just keep bringing pizzas until you tell them to stop! If you're not full from all the pizza, you can purchase dessert and of course, you must indulge in a few glasses of Lazy Ballerina's finest! After our most recent visit, we have some new favourite pizzas - the pear and blue cheese pizza is to die for and the…
Find it at: Rodgers Terrace, Maitland On the corner of Rogers Terrace and Robert St in Maitland there is a great combination playground. It boasts both the typical metal/plastic style playground with a large wooden climbing section. There is a spinning ride (although beware after rain as it fills with water), swings, a big slide, a digger and climbing equipment. It is surrounded by fence for most of the playground with just a small gap for entering (not secure). It has a car park, shaded seating, a free bbq, a double cricket pitch and it's just a short walk to nearby toilets.Fun for the whole family!
