A lovely suburban playground which is great for toddlers, has the double ‘Mum and Me’ style swing where you can swing with your baby. Plenty of safety features here too which allows the toddlers to climb safely, with safe rails guard rails and good steps.
No toiles shade or BBQ here however, but there is some shade on the grassed areas under the trees. Two swings and some wooden stepping stones, plus some scramble logs will keep the kids busy enough for an arvo pit stop.
This one is just off Grange Rd and very near to Machinetta for a coffee, or Fulham Chicken and Chips who do great hot chips!
Find it at: 43 Jervois Street, South Plympton Jervois Street Playground in South Plympton is up there with Morialta and Glenunga as one of our favourite playgrounds in Adelaide. Some of the Jervois Street Reserve highlights are: Fully fenced junior playground with lots to keep the little ones happy including double slides, a 'bird's nest' swing, regular and baby swing, sandpit and a water play feature with pump action water pump and gorgeous water channel. An older kids playground with mini flying fox, wooden/rope climbing frames, basketball and netball rings. A number of areas for skating, scooting and riding bikes, including a 'trike track' which our balance biker loved! A mountain bike/BMX path through behind the basketball court that our kids LOVED. A small covered seating area, FREE electric BBQ and all-access toilet (1 large self-flushing). A large grassed area for open play, ball games and dog lovers. A fitness node with equipment designed for all ages. Pickup a drive through coffee at the On-The-Run on Marion Road just a few hundred metres from the Reserve! :) Jervois Street Reserve is a wonderful, open play space and you can definitely tell that a lot of thought and community involvement went…
Find it at: Ashley Street Torrensville Ashley Street Playground is a medium sized playground more suited to locals to the area. I probably wouldn't drive too far to specifically go to this park, but if you live in the Western suburbs it's a nice option for a playdate for something different. The playground area is fully fenced which is great, and there are also enough bench seats to go around. It's really annoying when a playground only has one bench seat for all the Mums and Dads to squish on :) The equipment includes a spiral slide, monkey bars, climbing wall and ropes, swings and a liberty swing. What we liked about this playground Really nicely shaded with a big shade sail stretching over the whole thing Fully fenced! Yay no run aways Clean and tidy BBQ was right next door and nice and clean Tennis courts right next to it Liberty Swing Clean and tidy What we thought could be better The toilets were a bit dim. Not very grassy, if you want to watch the kids playing you have to sit on one of the bench seats or on the rubber floor Street parking is available, but there's…
Find it at: Kenton Avenue, Oaklands Park Another nice little playground for the locals, with a range of equipment outside of the normal combo of tower slide + swing. They do have some swings, which our crew got around, with a normal swing, toddler swing and dount net swing to entertain the troops. The big horizontal climbing net provided a good challenge for the older kids and the sound pipes are always fun! We loved the adjacent bike and scooter trail, which adds a bit of difference to the area but there was no real flat area for any ball sports sorry sports fans. There aren't any toilets here but it is only a small local spot, so not a huge shock there, however we did like the water fountain. Shade wise you are sort of left to enjoy the local trees which cover a part of the playground but a lot is left exposed. Lots of sand too for those parents who love sand play (yet to meet one, but they may exist) and a water play set up will help that easy to brush off dry sand turn into annoying wet sand. This one isn't fully fenced either…
