AL Vincent Playground in Vincent Reserve, Bridgewater is one of those hidden local gems that most people would never know about unless you lived nearby, but it’s a superb spot with a reasonable range of play equipment for toddlers to older kids. It’s well shaded by big gum trees for plenty of shelter on sunny days, fully fenced and bark chipped around all equipment for safer falls. There is a larger play equipment setting suitable for 5-10 years that includes monkey bars, climbing equipment, sliding frames, a bridge and slide. Slightly off from that, there is a more toddler suitable frame with smaller slide, toddler friendly stairs, abacus, covered fort and a spring rocker. There’s also baby and regular swings, as well as a few picnic tables across the reserve and plenty of space for unstructured outdoors play, both in open grassed areas and between the trees.
No toilet or bbq facilities onsite at Vincent Reserve playground Bridgewater. The playground is a no-dog zone.
Find it at: Arbury Park Road, Bridgewater ** Update February 2020 ** Unfortunately since we first posted about the Bridgewater Fairy Garden there have been some nasty trolls on the lose who have been in and stolen, broken or vandalised some of the fairy houses BUT we found out that there's still some left to see and it's still a cute way to spend an hour or two exploring somewhere new. If your kids are keen on fairies, magic, imagination or just getting outdoors, they will love this place. It's located at Deanery Reserve near Arbury Park. For specific directions see notes at the bottom of this post. Thanks to @ThatLittleNook for the update and the photos! Follow the Heyson Trail about 50m towards the freeway from the carpark and you'll find the main Fairy Garden with about 10 little doors from 5-15cm tall. The Garden (shown above) has been growing over the last 6 months and is now well established on the side of the track and easily seen by all. Walkers, visitors and fairy fans have all been adding their own touch to the Garden with everything from hand rails up the steep steps, to animal statues, updated…
There’s something pretty magical about the Adelaide Hills in Spring: the air smells sweet, the creek is still flowing, and the mild days become balmy delivering the perfect excuse to book a table creekside. Add a delicious menu (including some all day offerings), and you’ve got a day out that ticks all the family-friendly boxes. Welcome back to The Bridgewater Inn. This local favourite has had a bit of a glow-up last year, and it’s looking better than ever. The new all-weather pavilion, upgraded beer garden and revamped balcony have brought a fresh vibe to this historic pub without losing any of the charm that’s made it so popular over the years. The addition of a lift and new bathrooms has also made it more accessible, which is always a win. We visited on a crisp spring day and loved every second. The heaters were on but the sun was out, and we were greeted by the most adorable family of ducks, complete with fluffy baby ducklings! The whole place had that relaxed, summer is coming, vibe. We tucked into croquets, buratta, gourmet pizza, a classic parmi and the most delicious noodles. Our 11 year-old, who eats like a grown…
If you’re heading into the Adelaide Hills and need somewhere to let the kids stretch their legs, this is a lovely little stop. Bridgewater Lions Playground sits beside Cox Creek, surrounded by big trees, rocks and grassy hills, so it feels much more like a Hills adventure than a quick playground pit stop.
