Fancy an open space that’s not too BUSY but still good enough to entertain any age kids? This might be one worth checking out!

We ventured a little further North to visit California Reserve and we’re so glad we did! Upgraded in 2022, the space was relatively quiet, making a nice change to the busier playgrounds we normally frequent. The reserve showcases a variety of things to do for public and with the installation of a new toilet block, it’s easy to see how families can easily spend an afternoon here. There’s a super cool playground, a basketball court, lots of green grass to run or kick a ball, two BBQ/ undercover sitting areas, exercise equipment, and a nature play area with plenty of beautiful trees throwing some much needed shade in the warmer months.

The playground itself features a climbing frame which wasn’t dauntingly huge but just high enough that the main slide was a great size. There’s also a smaller slide for the little ones and some steps nearby for easy access. Complete with a see-saw, a spinning merry-go-round, a trampoline, a nest swing, a car and bike rocker and an activity board with games like four in a row.

California Reserve is a the perfect spot for a family picnic, a gathering with friends or a simple trip to the park.

  • Find it at: Essex Crescent, Croydon Park Following its partial closure for the South Road upgrade, Polonia Reserve has re-opened into a magnificent new playground, which features one of the most eye-catching designs of any playground in the state. The Polonia Reserve upgrade includes an open kick about lawn, play space and storm water detention area. The huge 7-metre-tall, 12-metre-wide soccer ball playground sculpture, built by local business Iguana Creative, features three levels, two slides, a climbing structure, a lookout platform, tessellated climbing steps, fire poles, an interactive ticket booth, and exterior illumination. The soccer ball play element is not just a fun addition to this new reserve but also pays homage to the area's history. Before moving up the road to the newly constructed Regency Reserve, Polonia Reserve was home to Croydon Football Club since 1950, and before that was home to Polonia Soccer Club. We can't wait to make this a local hangout and it will be an absolute hit with the locals.

This has got to be one of the biggest playground reserves in Adelaide with HEAPS of different play areas, including an accessible area and a brand new section with the coolest slide around!
