A South Australian icon for more than 55 years, the Pancake Kitchen always makes me nostalgic for my childhood. It was so exciting to head to that nook of Gilbert St & be allowed to eat pancakes for dinner! I can still smell the maple syrup & remember looking at the menu wondering who on earth would eat bacon on pancakes (adult me, that's who). Does anyone else remember the jukebox out in the back room? The original Spotify! It may have changed a bit since then, but The Original Pancake Kitchen is still a hit with kids & makes the perfect family dining spot. It is also now in THREE different locations across Adelaide. The original Gilbert St restaurant has had little pancake babies (pikelets?) & is now also found in Modbury & now inside the Marion Cultural Centre.
