The 2025 upgrade to CC Hood Reserve Playground in Panorama has seen it become a standout community destination in Adelaide’s southern suburbs. Part of a wider redevelopment of the reserve, the new playground brings an exciting mix of adventure, accessibility, and fun for kids of all ages.

At the heart of the upgrade is a thoughtfully designed play space featuring a flying fox, a huge multi-level play tower with slides, monkey bars, a “sand factory” for imaginative play, and a range of swings including toddler, basket, and duo options. The accessible roundabout and spring rockers ensure that children of all abilities can join the fun, while stepping pods add an extra challenge for confident climbers.

Beyond the playground, the surrounding reserve offers something for everyone. Families can enjoy a fully equipped BBQ and picnic area with shaded seating and public toilets nearby. Active kids (and adults) will appreciate the 3×3 basketball court, and small soccer goals. Fitness stations with hand bikes, leg presses, and chin-up bars are dotted around the reserve, each with instructional signage and QR codes for guidance.

A highlight of the redevelopment is the fully fenced small-dog park, featuring agility equipment, double-gated entry, dog bowls, and water fountains. It’s the perfect place for furry family members to burn some energy too.

Accessibility and safety have been prioritised, with paved paths, solar lighting, and a tree-lined walkway that connects key areas of the reserve. The recent landscaping – including new turf and bark chip surfaces – ensures year-round usability.

  • Find it at: Fiveash Drive, Pasadena This upgraded playground situated off of Fiveash Drive just near the Pasadena Shopping Centre is a fantastic new improvement to the area! Beautifully shaded by heavy greenery, this playground has something for everyone.  Although not fenced off, yet situated near a main road, the steep sloping beast of a hill heading up towards the busyness of Fiveash Drive will stop anyone in their tracks. With a mega castle style vibe, this fully equipped playground features a store for pretend play, climbing ropes for the monkeys, multiple slippery dips for both the big and toddler sized kids, 3 different kinds of swings, a nature play style tepee and stepping logs, and a half basketball court for the bigger kids. For those looking for a place to eat, this playground also has a wooden gazebo with a picnic table. The only downfall of this playground is that it is missing toilets (and a barbeque for that good ole fashioned kids party). However, it is a quick stroll to the shopping centre just 150m down Fiveash drive if you need to locate a toilet or some liquid delight in the form of a coffee after chasing your…

  • Find it at: Neville Avenue, Clarence Gardens The upgraded AA Bailey Reserve playground at Clarence Gardens is finished and it. Is. Fabulous! Where do we start with this must visit spot.  Firstly, it is basically 2 playgrounds in 1. Everyone loves a double playground right! Playground 1 is a fully fenced area, designed more for the little kids, with sand play, swings, a pirate ship and more. A fantastic little set up on its own, but then with the brand new upgrade right next door (not fully fenced as such, but fenced on most sides and a long way from any busy roads), there is so much here for all ages.  With huge climbing equipment, mini flying fox, massive slide built into the hill and a lot of nature style climbing, jumping and skipping bits and pieces to explore, our kids had a blast. The floor covering is pretty much all bark which may be a mobility issue for some kids but there are some paths through the playgrounds should hopefully help with getting around. There is also a disabled access swing which we love. There is a shaded BBQ area with seats, lots of grasses area and trees so…

  • Find it at: Norman Street, St Marys A beautiful little spot this one, located near the Kenilworth Football Club at St marys (gates go through to the ground). There is an extensive water garden, BBQs, seating and tables plus a water fountain too which is very handy. Lots of green space for general muck around/ball play and good climbing trees to boot. The playground is perfect for the under 8s, with nature play the theme here. Enough climbing, log and rock hopping, with a nice looking playground set up including climbing equipment and a little slide. There is a gravel path suitable for bikes or strollers that laps the entire park but.....no toilets, fencing and no shade (apart from the trees).
