Massive news LEGO lovers! Alceon Group and LEGO Australia and New Zealand today announced the first AG LEGO® Certified Store will open in South Australia in the coming months. It will be located at Westfield Marion shopping centre.

Expect a multi-sensory retail experience set to inspire local brick fans of all ages.

Richard Facioni, the Executive Director, Alceon has said “LEGO Certified Stores are renowned globally for creativity and imagination, as one of the world’s most loved brands meets a custom built retail concept.”

“We look forward to bringing this leading, experiential retail concept to South Australia and showcasing the creative potential of the world famous LEGO brick.”

Sounds to us like we are going to be able to get our hands on some LEGO in store and see all kinds of creations on display!

This is so cool for Adelaide! Other iconic LEGO Certified Stores are located in New York, London, Shanghai, Denmark, Dubai, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland.

The new store will incorporate signature LEGO retail features including a Pick A Brick Wall, a Build-a-Minifigure playstation and a ‘digital box’ where almost any LEGO boxed set can be scanned and come to life [um brilliant! how good is technology!] Additional custom features include a large brick wall-mounted mosaic and an over-size 3D model inspired by South Australian icons.

Just for fun comment below who do you thing the SA Icons will be or should be?

In February last year, Alceon and The LEGO Group announced an agreement, with Alceon acquiring rights to open new LEGO Certified Stores across Australia and New Zealand.

The new AG LEGO Certified Store will have a wide selection of LEGO sets, including hard to find and limited edition sets and this bit of news excited us the store will also have activities and events only available in store.

The new Westfield Marion store is set to open before Christmas. The Grand Opening date will be announced over the coming weeks and we will be sure to let you know when it is time to lace up the shoes and get in there!

  • The South Australian Aviation Museum, located close to the Railway Museum and the Maritime Museum such a cool place to visit! Displaying aircraft and aircraft engines of relevance to South Australia and aviation in Australia it's also the home of the Defence Science and Technology Organisation's heritage rocket collection. The volunteers are AMAZING and there's SO much to see! Some of the planes are HUGE and you can explore the cockpits of most of them too. Lots of fun!  There's a large variety of engines, propellers and memorabilia, technical books and films to check out. The museum building used to be in Darwin in the war and was brought to Port Adelaide just after the war ended. The Museum continues to develop through the addition of more displays, restorations and general improvement of presentation and facilities. • The South Australian Museum is a wonderful place for kids (and adults) of any age to visit. There's so much to explore, learn and discover and the exhibitions are always informative, often interactive and sometimes we feel the need to visit the same exhibition more than once because they are THAT good! Keep an eye on our Kids in Adelaide website, and the museum's website, for upcoming exhibitions. It is definitely a huge place, and once you have visited once or twice, you'll get to know specifically what your kids would like to go back and see next time because its absolutely a place you could go every school holidays and see something new - FREE. Entrance and all activities at the museum are free unless otherwise indicated, and a morning or afternoon spent exploring the museum is always time well spent. Our kids always learn so so much and they will gravitate to the things that interest them really quickly (like the giant squid in our case, we ALWAYS have to say hello to him!)  There's heaps of cafe's, coffee shops and lawn areas near the Museum and they often have a big screen or event happening on the…

  • The Maritime Museum collection began in 1872 to preserve, explore and celebrate the human history of our oceans and rivers. It is Australia's oldest nautical collection and also includes new features, such as the Port River Dolphin area. Renowned for its innovative approach to maritime history and education, the Museum incorporates the historic Bond Store with three floors of exhibitions, the Port Adelaide Lighthouse from South Neptune Island, and the much-loved steam tug, Yelta. The museum is further towards the 'Port', but on the same street, as the Aviation Museum and the Railway Museum so you can hit all three in one day if you think your family can handle it! It's probably more suited to school aged children, as there is a lot of information and a interactive aspects to the museum. It has a lot of big things to look at, but many more small aspects that won't suit the younger children. There is a small play area within one of the exhibits on the 2nd level for kids to climb through and investigate. There are stairs up to the second level and down to the basement, but there is also disabled access. maritime.history.sa.gov.au Open 10am - 5pm…
