Moana is one of our best beaches and this playground is pretty much on the Esplanade, so the location is pretty sweet. There are toilets (across the road….so careful there), undercover tables, a BBQ, a half court basketball court and a large grassed area. Very limited shade (there was none) and when we went it was a little over grown which isn’t ideal as we head into the warmer months. Keep that in mind but hopefully be seen too soon enough.
Targeting more the primary aged kids, there is heaps of climbing equipment and some different sort of designs that are a bit funky. It has a small slide and scattered smaller equipment throughout the park too. Overall not a bad little playground but given the location, it could potentially be a bit of a marquee drawcard for the area with a bit of TLC (and $$$).
Find it at: Everard Avenue, Keswick This fab little playground had several upgrades through 2024 and 2025. This place is a fantastic local facility, with a shaded modern playground full of unique climbing areas for the kids to explore. The whole playground is shaded by sails in fact, with a number of play areas with a range of equipment to suit most ages. Throw in a fantastic oval, basketball court, pump track and tennis court facilities, and this precinct becomes a one stop shop for a fab arvo for the locals. Plenty of off street parking, BBQ facilities, toilets and water fountains round off a nice little spot. Thanks to Surface Contractors Australia for the images of the courts.
Find it at: Corner Old Belair Road and Norman Walk, Mitcham This ripper was upgraded in December 2018 and we absolutely love it! The new playground updates are a credit to Nature Play Design and the City of Mitcham with a great mix of the nature play elements alongside more traditional equipment. On the larger side of the park (the Northern side) there is the highlight of the new upgrade to Mitcham Reserve with a double story 'elf tower' made of wood with a weather vane, horse and cart, spiral slide, double slide (which has a ramp access), double swings, rocking horse, stepping logs and climbing logs. Across the little foot bridge on the southern side of the creek there are more swings, balancing ropes, awesome carved animals, aboriginal artworks and more! With the new upgrade, Mitcham Reserve is even more of a beautiful park with the great new play equipment and wonderfully kept grounds. There is plenty of space and shade for large groups to spread out and enjoy a picnic. There are also BBQ's available, plus a lovely creek to add to the ambience. Kids will enjoy the opportunity to run around and kick a ball or play…
Find it at: Price Ave, Clapham A small but well-maintained fully fenced and dog-friendly park.Play equipment includes monkey bars, a slide, a seesaw, a climbing wall and two swings. There’s also enough grassed area for a game of cricket, football, soccer, frisbee or whatever activity takes your fancy. There are no toilets or BBQs but it does have two tables with benches if you’d like to bring your own snacks. The reserve is popular with kookaburras, and if you’re lucky you can even spot a koala from time to time.
