The funhouse mirrors have been polished, the fairy lights are twinkling, and the snow forest trees have been adorned, ready for excited visitors to descend on David Jones for this cherished South Australian tradition.
David Jones has a number of measures in place to ensure the safe enjoyment of the holiday season for all.
All Christmas photography at David Jones this year will be socially distanced with the use of props and backdrops, and managed in line with current government health and safety advice with the onsite assistance of David Jones Social Distancing Elves.
Santa sets allow for COVID safe family photos and you can also try and catch Selfie Santa who will be wandering around David Jones, taking selfies and offering up his secret way of travelling around the world in one night – even during COVID!
Follow the footprints and elves through the Christmas displays to the Magic Cave. a raft of family fun awaits inside the Magic Cave with free rides, fairy-tale creatures, animated displays and the opportunity to meet Father Christmas.
The Magic Cave is an Adelaide icon and began its association with John Martin’s, another department store, in 1896. Mr Edward Waterfield Hayward – then owner of the John Martin & Company Limited, established the ‘Magic Cave’. It was a Christmas fantasy world, to support children’s cultural heritage and provide a joyful community Christmas experience.
Father Christmas will make the Magic Cave his second home from December 2 until Christmas Eve.
