While it might be the smaller of Riverlea’s two playgrounds, Milner Place Reserve proves that good things really do come in small packages. Perfect for a quick play stop or an afternoon burn-off, this neighbourhood playground ticks all the essential boxes without feeling overcrowded.
The play space features a great mix of equipment for younger and primary school-aged kids, including swings, slides, climbing and balancing elements that encourage active play and help build confidence. The layout is open and easy to supervise, making it a great option for families with children of different ages.
One of the standout additions is the half basketball court, giving older kids (and competitive parents!) another reason to stick around after they’ve finished exploring the playground.
Surrounded by open green space, it’s also an ideal spot to kick a ball, enjoy a picnic rug or simply soak up the fresh air in one of Adelaide’s newest communities.
Features you’ll find:
Swings
Slides
Balancing and climbing equipment
Basketball half court
Open grassed areas
Seating for parents
Easy street parking
Great for toddlers through to primary school-aged children
If you’re exploring Riverlea with the kids, Milner Place Reserve makes a great stop before or after visiting the larger Kapinka Reserve, offering a quieter play experience while still keeping little adventurers entertained.
Find it at: Kapinka Parade, Riverlea Opened in April 2024 in the heart of the enormous Riverlea development in Adelaide's north, this fantastic playground offers something for all ages. It doesn't have toilets and isn't fully fenced, however is tucked in the suburbia so that might not be an issue for everyone. A lack of decent coffee nearby was something we noticed, but as the development grows we expect this will change. Featuring; Plenty of green space to kick a footy Loved the fast medium sized slide and the high firmans pole plus a family swing for three people Play equipment for all ages and with some accessible equipment High net top walk BBQ and seating Big scramble logs Spanning over 5000sqm, this is a sensational play space for families out north. Thanks to Surface Contractors Australia for the drone shots.
Find it at: St Kilda Rd, St Kilda For those who grew up in Adelaide, you'd probably have been out St Kilda Adventure Playground when you were a kid, but have you been back since 2015? It's got all the awesome stuff that I remember from my childhood, and more... and green grass, less dust, water, shade and well, it's just BIGGER AND BETTER than I remember too! St Kilda's huge makeover was completed in 2015 with a brand new metal/mesh 3 storey castle on one hill complete with 3 metal slides a completely renovated 'Volcano' with 4 slides on the other hill and in between a whole range of swings, slides, flying foxes, climbing nets and equipment toddlers right up to teenagers will enjoy Highlights The HUGE old school metal slide from my childhood is still there, but there are also a bunch of other new metal slides now too - remember to bring your own slippery blanket, hessian sack or similar to slide on if you're a thrill seeker 1 big BIG flying fox for the older kids, and one smaller one perfect for primary kids. The big one is epic.....possibly the best one in S.A? A completely…
Find it at:Park Rd, Virginia For a fully fenced playground - this was a huge area - but not so big that you can't see your kids at all times. A great playground for toddlers to about 6-8 years old - but then the climbing frame and basketball ring could be good for those a bit older and as it is adjoining the local footy oval - plenty of room for bigger kids to kick around, fly a kite, run etc or even ride bikes around the outer oval track (think country footy oval) What we love Shades over MOST play equipment Shaded BBQ and table area Exercise Equipment Two swings (toddler and normal) Traditional monkey bars Small-Medium Slippery Dip - we loved the proper steps with hand rails for toddlers Huge Climbing Frame Spinning pole Paved paths perfect for learner scooters Basketball ring with plenty of concrete and space to play Soft astro turf under play gear (not sand or bark) Well maintained / neat and tidy for its age apart from the piercing squeak from the swings - The toilets are outside of fence, but very close by. Ample parking - no walking What could be better: No…
