The Port Augusta Foreshore Playground is located on Young Street and is a great toddler playground. It overlooks the water, and there’s a great walking path going along the foreshore, which is perfect if you’ve got kids with bikes or scooters.
You can skate or scooter right up to the great skate park better known as “The Wave” , opened in 2010. It has an open bowl, ramp and lots of contrete blocks and ramps. Better for experienced skaters, but younger kids will love to sit and watch or have a go on the flat surfaces.
The playground and foreshore area is well kept, with lots of green space and plenty of space to picnic. It’s also located really close to the main shopping precinct of Port Augusta- perfect for a coffee or to grab some bread rolls and salad for lunch.
Find it at: Victoria Terrace, Port Victoria A stunning beachside playground with lots to choose from. A challenging experience for little ones with rock climbing walls, balancing paths and lots of climbing. There is seating nearby and toilets are a short walk away (near the jetty). The BBQ costs a couple of dollars so if you want to cook bring some gold coins. After your play I'd recommend taking the stairs down to the beach and either taking a walk or climbing the rocks. We walked under the jetty and there was a lot to see. A local cafe is perfect for a snack if you haven't brought anything along. Plenty of car parks.
Find it at: Marine Parade, Port Vincent Firstly....check out the view! Located right next on the beach front on Marine Parade, the location is sensational. It was a fun playground with many play options to keep the kids busy after a big day exploring Yorkes. It has pebble flooring, 2 public bbq's, plenty of seating and an incredible beach view. Oh the view! The park boasts fencing on 3 sides and an easy to supervise access point of the 4th side, with easy access to stairs down to the beautiful beach. There are plenty of rubbish bins and shaded seating. The only downsides are that the park itself isn't shaded and public toilets are across the road, behind the Town Hall. One last bonus is that there is a kiosk right next to the playground to grab a nice cold ice block on those super hot days. Come on, we know you can imagine eating hot chips while the kids play on the playground and beach! Bliss.
Find it at: The Esplanade, Semaphore Semaphore Foreshore is set for an incredible redevelopment, which will include a brand new playground (which will replace the existing playground below). The revised Master Plan is open for community consultation until 19 May 2024, but check out some of the concept images below. We are loving the proposed new activity hub (new playground to be built next to this), and water play! To read the Master Plan and provide feedback, click here. Keep reading for info on the existing playground. The existing Semaphore playground is right in the middle of the Semaphore Foreshore Reserve and bordered by The Fort Glanville Train Rides, The Semaphore Carousel, bustling Semaphore Road and of course the beach and jetty. Don't forget the great kiosk which is always open right at the gate, plus the train rides depart all from the one central location. The playground is undercover and fully fenced with lots of climbing equipment, a flying fox, slides and tunnels. It truly is one of the nicest playground locations in Adelaide, right in the heart of the Semaphore entertainment precinct. What we liked about this playground The location which is sensational on a sunny day in summer…
Mum to three. I'm a school teacher, sport lover and Milo addict. I don't particularly like blue tongue lizards even though I know they keep snakes away.
