The Largs Bay foreshore play space redevelopment in 2024 brought to life an amazing concept which feels like came straight from the imagination of us as kids!
This one is a very popular site with local and visiting families and the new ice cream themed playground is sure to make it even more popular.
We love when councils and designers think outside the box to create imaginative play areas for the kids. This one is the talented work of local business Iguana Creative.
With toilets, shelter, BBQ plus the existing basketball and other facilities, this is a brilliant beach side spot.
Find it at: St Kilda Rd, St Kilda For those who grew up in Adelaide, you'd probably have been out St Kilda Adventure Playground when you were a kid, but have you been back since 2015? It's got all the awesome stuff that I remember from my childhood, and more... and green grass, less dust, water, shade and well, it's just BIGGER AND BETTER than I remember too! St Kilda's huge makeover was completed in 2015 with a brand new metal/mesh 3 storey castle on one hill complete with 3 metal slides a completely renovated 'Volcano' with 4 slides on the other hill and in between a whole range of swings, slides, flying foxes, climbing nets and equipment toddlers right up to teenagers will enjoy Highlights The HUGE old school metal slide from my childhood is still there, but there are also a bunch of other new metal slides now too - remember to bring your own slippery blanket, hessian sack or similar to slide on if you're a thrill seeker 1 big BIG flying fox for the older kids, and one smaller one perfect for primary kids. The big one is epic.....possibly the best one in S.A? A completely…
Find it at: Mundy Street, Port Adelaide With the whole area going though some major redevelopment, Hart's Mill playground was opened to the public in mid 2014 with a great space for families to play at Port Adelaide. Coupled a spot of dolphin watching and hitting up the markets, this makes a great family trip. The eyecatching, 3 story tower with metal slide is the centrepiece of the Hart's Mill Playground Port Adelaide and the slide is a huge hit. It's faster than the 'usual' metal slides and you'll need that 3 meter flat section at the end to be sure you don't slide off the end so take care with younger kids until they are comfortable. Suited to kids aged 3 and up, younger kids will probably have a hard time climbing up the ladders anyway. Other highlights are the sandpit with multilevel climbing/building station that includes a pulley sandscoop and sandchutes that are always popular - BYO small sand shovel and bucket for extra fun! There's a great seated flying fox that kids of all ages will love, 'spider web' climbing frames, medium hampster wheel, swings and more. There are some undercover bench tables and free electric BBQs outside…
