We may have just found Adelaide’s most charming, family friendly spot to eat, that caters to both parents and kids. White Picket Coffee House, on the Eastern city fringe, serves up some brilliant kid-friendly menu options in a spacious setting with a choice of indoor tables, enclosed verandah tables, or our favourite, the rear courtyard/ garden setting complete with a sweet little cottage style cubby house! I think the fact that the rear courtyard had every table filled while we were there really shows how much of a winner this place is!
The coffee here is top-notch. Each cup is brewed to perfection using quality beans, leaving you with that rich and satisfying taste we all crave. Plus, their breakfast, brunch, and lunch options are to die for! With initiatives like “Pasta Fridays”, it’s the perfect way to end the week. On top of that, their ready-made meals to collect for dinner or work lunches are a godsend, making busy weekdays a breeze.
Parents, you’ll be thrilled to know that they’ve got your little ones covered too. The kids’ hot chocolates are made to perfection – just the right temperature to keep those tiny taste buds happy. And speaking of happy tummies, the fish and chips were a definite hit, but the real crowd pleaser was the kids French toast! It was devoured within minutes by our little ones, with no crumbs to spare.

With a free parking lot at the back of the building and plenty of on-street parking, you won’t have to worry about finding a spot. It’s all about ease and comfort at White Picket Coffee House. An unexpected surprise worth mentioning too – the café is licensed! Yes, you heard that right. You can treat yourself to a selection of local and imported beer and wine while enjoying your meal.
The staff are an absolute delight, which in my opinion truly enhances the overall experience. Super friendly and professional, they make you feel right at home from the moment you step inside. Their warm hospitality is like catching up with old friends.

A South Australian icon for more than 55 years, the Pancake Kitchen always makes me nostalgic for my childhood. It was so exciting to head to that nook of Gilbert St & be allowed to eat pancakes for dinner! I can still smell the maple syrup & remember looking at the menu wondering who on earth would eat bacon on pancakes (adult me, that's who). Does anyone else remember the jukebox out in the back room? Here at Kids In Adelaide, we love a cafe that just gets it right - good service, good, food, good beverages and somewhere for the kids to play. Thankfully, Cantina61 at Seaford Rise ticks all the boxes! Under new ownership since April 2022, the team have been working hard to deliver a place you can go with family or friends and just enjoy yourselves and their great food!
