Can we just say that the point is not lost on us that our KiA kids are some VERY lucky kids. Every now and then they get to try out some of the coolest, most fun kids toys, games and equipment for us to write a review. Sometimes we receive something that we don’t rate or isn’t up to scratch and if that’s the case, we send it back with no review. That was you’ll know that anything on the post below is truly excellent and well loved by us.

Springfree® Trampolines

Ever heard of a square trampoline? Didn’t realise that was even possible? I didn’t either until I found out about Springfree® Trampolines and their range of not only standard round trampolines, but also their ingenious range pf oval and SQUARE trampolines! The days of trying to fit a square peg in a round hole (or in this case a round trampoline in a square garden) are over!

Not only can you choose your trampoline shape AND colour you can also be confident that your kids are bouncing on THE ONLY trampoline to pass (for the third consecutive time) Australian Safety Standards (AS 4989:2015) an accolade no other trampoline brand has achieved.

Springfree® trampolines come in NINE sizes and THREE shapes so you really can find a trampoline to fit a spot at your house.

Funky Monkey Bars

Four years ago we got Funky Monkey Bars for Christmas and four years later they still get used almost daily. This award winning, Australian business is the world’s first manufacturer of modular, free-standing, height adjustable monkey bars, outdoor play and fitness equipment.  A big ticket item for sure, but one that will still be going strong many Christmases from now

Byk Bike

Do not underestimate how much a decent bike will help your kid to learn to ride a bike.

The ByK E-350 is suitable for riders aged 3-6 who are between 95-117 cms tall. So it’s a great starting point to first learn to ride, and then last long enough for them to get a good couple of years out of before it’s time to upgrade. It’s available in single speed, 3 speed internal geared and mountain model and also in a range of colours so you can really choose the bike that is going to suit your child. It also comes with training wheels if you want to use them.

Oskars Wooden Ark

2020 will go down as the year we discovered Oskar’s Wooden Ark, an Adelaide based toy store that has stolen our hearts (and a few of our dollars too)

We have spent MANY hours trawling their website that’s full of gorgeous, top quality, unique and educational toys for kids.
These aren’t the kind of toys that get thrown in the bin after a week of use. These ones will be passed down through family members and last the test of time and the test of kids!

Leapfrog On-the-Go Story Pal

OK if you’re an interstate Nan or Grandpa, have a FIFO parent in the house, a favourite Aunty who lives far away or just know a story loving kid I’ve found THE CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR YOU this year thanks to LeapFrog ANZ
Pictured here is the Leapfrog On-the-Go Story Pal

It comes pre loaded with 30 stories, poems, songs and lullabies BUT the best part is that you can also voice record our own stories or songs. Nanna is here reading and recording Miss 3’s favourite book so she can listen to it every night when our interstate Nanna goes back home (sob)
The buttons are easy enough for my 3 year old to use herself and she very quickly worked out how to scroll through the options to find her story book or lullaby of choice for the night.
I’m also not ashamed to admit that SOME nights I just do not have the energy for endless bedtime stories so to be able to record a few to throw on after a cuddle is worth.every.cent!

This retails for $44.95 and is available from from Target, Big W as well as selected online toy stores and online.

Eco Crayons

Handmade in South Australia, natural, non toxic, plant based, biodegradable, plastic free.
If those are words you love to hear when it comes to art and craft supplies for your kids then take a look at eco crayons range of crayons and powdered paint.
Both of my girls are very much into their drawing and painting so they were very excited to open the gorgeous packaging to find a packet of 6 stick crayons and a wonderful powder paint kit with 8 colours ready to mix.

We had a great time experimenting with combining colours, adding more or less water and the final product was a beatiful natural coloured sheet of paper that we’ll now use for wrapping gifts.

OH AND!!! We’ve just found out that Eco Crayons won a bag full of awards at this weeks AusMumpreneur awards! First place – product design. First place – against the odds. Second place – sustainability. Third place – product innovation.
Well done Naomi!!

Spacetalk Adventurer

Have you been umm-ing and ahh-ing about getting your kids a phone but feel like they’re just not quite old enough yet? We might have found your solution!
We’ve been letting our 9 year old ride to her sports training a couple of streets away from our house. She has loved that little bit of independence and knowing how safe that ride is I wasn’t too concerned with her getting there and back safely.
UNTIL
A few weeks ago she was heckled by a few teenagers stirring up trouble. She got scared and didn’t want to ride past them so she went a different way. Got a bit lost, got very upset and long story short ENDED UP IN A CAR WITH A STRANGER!!!! (insert vomit noise here)
It was an ordeal…….not as much for her as it was for me.

After asking around and doing a bit of online research we got in touch with the folks at Spacetalk watch to see if a couple of the KIA kids could put them to the test.
9 year old Winnie and Harvey have had them for about 3 weeks now and they’re loving them. Not only do they make and receive phone calls and text messages, they also have an SOS function as well as on demand location updates and easy to use and strict parental controls.
What they DON’T have is social media or direct access to the internet making them ideal for kids aged 5 – 12 as a stepping stone to a phone.

Nateve Hooded Towels

Calling all beach families, swimming families, boating families and actually just anyone with kids who love the water……..but also like to get dry and warm quickly after.
You might already know that we’re big fans of the quick try towel here at KiA. They dry in minutes, they’re lightweight, they roll up small to fit in your bag and best of all sand doesn’t stick to them – no more bringing home 15kgs of sand after a trip to the beach!

So we were very happy to receive a couple of these Nateve Australia quick dry hoodie towelsuits for these two little water babies to try out. Not only do they do the job of drying off and keeping warm after a swim they’re also fantastic sun protection without the bulk of other hooded towels we’ve had. Anyone with younger kids will know how hard it is to keep a towel wrapped around those wriggly little bodies, so this zip up suit is as easy as arms in, zip up, hood on.
Made from recycled plastic bottles, this ultra absorbent fabric is QUICK drying…..I’m talking like a few minutes in the sun and because it is odourless, it doesn’t require washing after each use.

They’re available in both adults and kids sizes in a range of colourful and vibrant designs.
For the pool, for the beach, for travel (when we can do that again) these are so handy and make a fantastic gift for a kid who loves the water, beach, pool or outdoors.
Oh and if you’re a swimming club, nippers club, or any water based sports club…..these would be a great idea for branded team wear…….

Morgy + Wills Nap Mats

Neutral tones and pastel colours are cute….yep…….BUT sometimes you want your kids stuff to just SCREAM COLOUR & FUN am I right?
How cute are these nap mats from Aussie brand Morgy + Wills!

My almost 4 year old has pretty much dropped her day sleep but we still have “rest time” every day and this nap mat has been so great for that. Roll it out, grab a book and your favourite teddy and it’s time for a rest (and for me to finish the coffee I made 4 hours ago)

Sleepover at Nannas? No worries roll it up and take it with you.
Need to BYO sheets to daycare? Perfect!
Summer camping? Yes!
Movie Night – get ready to snuggle down!

The all in one design includes a padded mattress, removable pillow and attached blanket that just a little bit oversized so you can really wrap it over. 100% Cotton Outer , super soft and comfy and yes OF COURSE it’s completely machine washable because #kids
Super easy to roll up and velcro closed and you can either pop it back in the carry bag or just use the attached handle to carry it around.
Available in four very bright and fun designs these would make a great gift idea for a birthday or even a baby shower.
Thanks so much for sending us one to try Nicola and Bree

LeapLand Adventures Learning Video Game

We tried the LeapLand Adventure Learning Video Game for my almost 4 year old. Her older sister gets a bit of Minecraft time when she’s earned it and we thought this might be a fun, easy option for her to try.

This is a simple quest type game where you choose a character and explore Letterland, Numberville, Shapetown and Colour Springs. Hunt for keys to unlock the castle and learn about letters, numbers, shapes and colors along the way. A fun way to practice ABC’s and 123’s. Run and jump through progressive, replayable game levels to collect gems, cleverberries and treasure chest rewards. Players can also explore more than 150 learning items at their own pace by playing the educational content directly in the fun Learning Centre menu.

No need to bust a brain cell trying to connect this console to your TV, it is a very simple plug and play game stick (HDMI) and a USB power cable into the back of you TV and your done. The game is played on a wireless controller with no internet or downloads needed. Great for travel!

Recommened for kids aged 3+

RRP $49.95 and available from BigW, Toymate and Online Toys Australia
